The PUD Course (Public Utilities District) starts next to the Operations Center. There's lots of parking and there is a course sign and map here. Currently, there is no permanent signage although it is said to be forthcoming. The concrete tee pads are second to none, they're plenty long and grooved for inclement weather. The baskets are not so impressive. They are Discatcher Sport models which have the cylinder thing on top. Some have numbers on top some are missing the numbers on top. There are wonderful little next tee arrows hanging below but although they point you in the right direction, we still struggled at times. Some baskets are used for both the orange and the blue layouts while others only serve one layout.

Being more than a little dense, I'm still a bit confused by the the course configuration changing on whether the month is even or odd. I'm not sure what would be different playing here in June or July. There was another player here with his son and as we passed each other at certain points, we were constantly asking each other, "Where is 4 Blue was or Orange # 7"? He found some while I discovered others. It's not the easiest course to navigate alone.

The terrain is good, not great. There is a little bit of elevation and no water.

# 5 Orange gets my vote as prettiest hole on the course. It's a simple 260' throw to a basket at the bottom of a hill. # 6 Blue gets my vote as the toughest hole here. It's basically straight and open 655' but it's just slightly uphill all the way. Then # 7 Blue gets my vote as the most wasted basket placement here. The basket sits up on the road 475' beyond this lovely, hilly large gathering of trees. I would have definitely placed the basket somewhere in this wonderfully protected fairly steep hillside set among 50 large Fir trees. It probably would rank as the Signature hole.

There's much about this course that makes it average. There is really no signature hole. Too many holes were set out in the open.

The awesome tee pads had a lovely # 3 in the corner of EVERY tee pad. As in, 3 for PUD # 3. The hole number on each tee pad would have made so much more sense. Put the PUD # 3 on a prominent spot on the tee signs, when they arrive.

The # 4 Orange arrow doesn't point at the obvious next tee pad. This fairway was also mowed recently and the tall grass is lying there. Naturally, I throw my weak ass drive and it buries under a clump of the mowed grass. I spent 10-15 minutes hunting for my disc in the fairway.

Some baskets don't have a number. I'm really sorry they didn't spring for better baskets here. These are cheaper thinner gauge metal and I fear they won't stand up to the wear and tear this course might get.

Navigation issues. I never found the # 10 Blue tee pad. The other guy playing did find it. I never figured out where the # 4 Blue basket was. It was, however, the prettiest tee pad here.

While this is an OK piece of land, it doesn't compare to NAD or even the little nearby REC course, Cushman Cruise. I'm also not sure who this course is targeting? The information sheet calls it an Intermediate course but Blue 6 & 7 are way tough.

I'm giving the course a 3.0 rating (which is considered good). I oftentimes leave myself the option of coming back later and upping my rating when certain upgrades have been completed such as signs, concrete pads or needed clearing and cleaning have taken place. But truthfully, I think I've factored in the signage that is promised.

This course will never be as challenging as Sea Tac or Shelton Springs and will never be as naturally pretty as NAD, Rainshadow or White River nor does it have the wonderful elevation of Lakewood, Fort Steilacoom or Camp Sekani Jamboree way over in Spokane. It's a nice course. Good!
