Some Pure Lines at PureLine drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a very Rec friendly course, flat with no shot over 290', but plenty of trees and creative mandos to keep it a challenge and fun. There are several practice baskets near hole 1, perfect for testing out that new plastic from PureLine.

Hole 3 has a drainage ditch behind the basket and hole 4 tees off over the same ditch to bring the element if water into play on two holes. Hole 5 has a hanging basket positioned between 3 trees, those are always fun. Every hole has trees in play, somewhere, really giving a sense of fun compared to an open field concept.

All of the tee signs have the necessary info you'd look for: length, par, map, next tee arrows; making the course fairly easy to navigate. (See cons)

The course has two tee areas per hole. Most of the long tees have benches tee at every hole, while the short tees are marked with pink flags. The tee signs are located at the long pads give the lengths for both the long and short positions. I didn't notice the short pads, but the long pads utilize carpets and they work better than most rubber pads and even gravel/natural pads I've played on with great grip and no fear of slipping.

The course maintenance is great - the grass is cut, the drainage ditch isn't overgrown, and the trees are trimmed up and there aren't any errant branches.

Cons:

The walk from 2s basket to 3s teepad was a bit confusing (until reading previous reviews). The course map QR code brought me to a page that said "URL expired" so I wasn't able to utilize that to get around.

It looks like hole 3 plays directly through an overflow parking area for the church, and the tee for hole 4 looks like it plays fairly close as well, so use caution during service hours.

I didn't see any trash cans, but this is a quick enough track they aren't needed (I'm just nitpicking).

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice and chill 9 hole track located right on 49th St N in Pinellas Park, FL, directly adjacent to the PureLine Disc Golf store. PureLine is the brainchild of local pro, Charlie Goodpasture, and he was able to work with the church next door to utilize the unused property between them to get this course in.

With a couple of Next Tee signs, and a course map posted somewhere, this could be a premier stop for Pinellas County. Having a disc golf pro shop on site is always a great amenity, made even better that it's run by a professional level player who's been in the game most of his life.

This course is a 10 minute drive from the shop I work at and a 3 minute drive to my wife's workplace - I'll definitely be getting some rounds in here.
