Quite a few long (350 ft. +) holes. With some being 500 ft. bombers.

Excellent view.

Elevation changes keep some shots interesting

Park at the ice cream shop and Chinese restaurant in Qualicum Bay. Then walk through the trailer park to the very back and up a steep embankment to the course. Bring water in the summer time as there are no trees for shade.

Overall it is a fun course. The first 8 holes are all shorter technical holes through trees. Starting with hole 9 things open up a lot. The designer tried their best to make the open shots interesting by utilizing elevation. Hole 9 was very long from the long tees and if you screw up your approach you're down into a pit 15 feet below the basket.

Holes 9 - 12 are all elevation shots where screwing up an approach could mean a 3-putt.

It was a fairly intuitive to navigate. Some of the holes have huge flag staffs sticking out so you can see the pin over the trees. The teepads are carpeting over flat ground and work quite nicely (at least when it's dry).

The last 4 holes or so are essentially just long shots across a flat open field. An experienced player would be able to get birdies on most of these since they seem to be between 275 and 350ft long and wide open.

The last few holes are what brought the score of the course down, though admittedly getting to open up without having to worry about hitting trees can be fun.

Many of the holes have few trees or bushes, and almost no underbrush - which make it a fun course for beginners.

Even though it's kind of barren, elevation change and other obstacles make it interesting. It's also a fun course to practice long precise shots. Number 12 is a long hole(300ft or so) with a horse pasture to the left, and if you overshoot on your upshot, you're down a hill onto a path 15 feet below - very cool hole.

I made my first ace on Hole number 14, which from the closer tee is a 160 foot hole with a 40 foot incline.

I've played from the Advanced & amateur tees. I Shot a +4 from Advanced, and -4 under for the shorter beginner tee offs. The advanced tees are where most people will want to play from, and It's one of the longer courses that Vancouver island & the Coastal Islands have. Playing from the advanced tees for moderate distance throwers can make par a fun challenge. A lot of the holes are more open 200+ feet. The others that are shorter require a hard uphill shot or a more technical throw around an obstacle or around/through some short trees.

The course is unfinished, more obstacles & trees would be fun. The course has 9 baskets and 9 tonals instead of 18 baskets - but the course may upgrade to 18 baskets soon.

The Tee pads are nonexistent since the course is still being developed. Temporary markers indicate the tee off locations thankfully.

Long distance throwers can get birdies on almost all the holes the first time they play and therefore -14 under is possible. For most normal throwers though par from the longer tees is a good game.

I like this course, it's free and has some cool elevation shots. You should stop by the Resort restaurant(they have good food) to show appreciation.

The course is being developed, and will be landscaped and have better markings in the future. Apparently, they now have grass, so it's not as gravelly. If you're in the area check it out.
