Nice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 16, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete tee pads
Nice tee signs
Good baskets
Mix of woods and open
Elevation changes

Cons:

- Hole 5 tee pad is in the "line of fire", meaning too close to the adjacent fairway, potentially requiring a wait for the safety of the players.
- Hole 12 green is, simply put, dangerous.

Other Thoughts:

Rez Prk is a nice 18 hole course sitting, for the most part, high above the Schuylkill River. The course has a nice mix of wide open holes and wooded holes, with elevation change factoring into the mix for most of the wooded holes and a few of the open ones.
Tee pads are concrete and I found them to be more than long enough for the length of the holes. The tee signs are well made and give you a nice overview of the hole with accurate distance information.
Baskets are good and found them easy to spot in the woods with the bright blue bands. The course itself is well maintained and clean. Wood chips on the path and greens helped keep the course looking good. It's clear the local club is taking pride in the maintenance of the course.

Overall, this is a nice course that's not too long and will allow you to get a relatively quick round of golf in if the course isn't overly crowded. When I played, there was a group of 7 in front of us, and despite this we had very little wait time on the tees. Flow of the course is good except for one hole that requires the group to walk back towards the tee they just used to get to the next tee box.
Overall the design is good, although simple at times. The wide open holes are not overly challenging, although each has a certain element that takes away the gimmie birdie. For the most part, I thought the holes were varied enough that you didn't feel you were playing the same hole twice.
One hole I didn't like was Hole 12. The design falters with the green, where the basket is perched at the top of a steep slope comprised of dirt and loose rock (shale) making footing dangerous, to say the least. I fell trying to get to my disc, and another in my group almost fell. In the rain this slope would be nearly impossible to navigate. In my opinion, it would be in the best interest of the course and player safety to move the basket to a safer location. There is more than enough room to move it and still keep the integrity of the hole.
Aside from hole 12, I liked the course design and the use of the natural terrain in making shorter holes challenging.

Overall I gave the course a rating of 3.0, but would quickly change that to a 3.5 if Hole 12 were slightly redesigned. The course is fun, well maintained and a nice place to play an enjoyable round of disc golf.
