Pros:

The course plays clockwise around the park with hole one teeing off from next to the concrete slab near the river due east from the playground. The baskets are all disccatchers that are numbered which really helped me figure out the layout as there are no maps or signs. There is water in play on 4 of the 9 holes. Especially holes 8 and 9. But you could end up in the water on 1 and 2 as well. The wind could also be a major factor here as it is right next to the Wisconsin river. I'm not sure of any distances but there are a few lengthier holes here compared to most park courses I've played. There was a port-a -potty right by hole 1 which is nice and a few other park activities here as well. The course is permanent which to me is a bonus. This course would be a solid winter course too.

Cons:

Pedestrian traffic and other park activities can get in the way from time to time, though I wouldn't think it's ever overly busy here. A number of the holes are pretty straight and bland with only a tree or two as obstacles. This may change as the course is still new, but the lack of signage is frustrating for new/traveling discers like myself. The tees are natural but are perfectly adequate for a course like this. Over time though they will turn into dirt patches with enough play. Also, and there's nothing that can be done about this, but the stench from the nearby paper mill/mills can be overwhelming as it was when we played here. I mean WOW!

Other Thoughts:

This course is decent. Not great by any means. I personally prefer Alexander middle school over this. It reminds me quite a bit of firemen's park in Waterloo WI. More water risk and less elevation but similar otherwise. From where I live though this coupled with South park, Robinson park and Alexander Middle school makes for a pretty solid day of disc golf.

Interesting Layout, but Lacking Some Amenities 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Layout demands different types of shots, including some low ceiling shots. Baskets are in good condition. Very picturesque up against the river.

Cons:

Tees are grass with corners marked by small posts. First hole is a blind hole, that a high shot could end up in the river. In a multi-use park, so baseball games and other activities may require you to skip a hole or two, and it looked like the park is set up for camper parking in certain areas of the course, so it looks like it may be unplayable whenever they allow camping.

Other Thoughts:

Being next to a sizable river can definitely affect things. It can be fairly windy, the low spots are a little wet, geese in some fairways, etc. Definitely a fun 9 hole course if you can get past a few annoyances.
