Beautiful Open Course drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 18, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course sign area is inviting, and the map has all available information - hole lengths, accurate map of the property, and the area goes above just giving info with a set of benches to get yourself together before the round, and a disc return box to help get those errant shots back to their owners.

Hole signs have all available information, maps are accurate. The only thing they don't have is a "next tee" mark, but that leads into navigation. This course is a breeze to navigate, every tee is visible and easy to get to.

The tee pads are framed, raised beds of packed gravel and work better than most concrete pads I've played on before - great traction, drainage, and the bits of gravel don't go flying while throwing.

Trash cans available throughout the course, this is always huge to me to be able to drop off my wrappers and bottles and not have to forget about my trash in my bag for days after playing.

These guys didn't want to have a wide open field and made great use of the available trees and landscaped out the tall grass in the field to offer more challenges than a flat open course.

They have a great maintenance program. I got a chance to talk to one of the Parks Dept guys and he made sure to stay on site until I finished my round to get feedback on anything the course needed (mowed, trash emptied, branches, etc.).

Cons:

Hole 5 tee sign is missing. It was one of the only mars on an otherwise amazing 9 hole course.

Being an old farm field, the course has some low spots to collect the rain water, without much in the way of drainage. My morning round was filled with water in my shoes.

Other Thoughts:

Talked to one of the Parks Dept. guys named "Trig" on my way in, to figure out where I was headed and had a great conversation about the sport - his playing days in the 90s/early 2000s, the upcoming expansion of the course, and my journey playing as many courses as I can. Getting to talk with Trig was great; he showed me exactly where I should park, the walking path to get over to the course, and he was just an overall inviting person who made me feel stoked to get out on the course. *THANKS TRIG!*

The GPS coordinates lead to the old entrance of the park. You'll want to make sure to use the Miller St. entrance to get into the park.

Once in the park, you'll pass the restroom building on your left. Continue to the parking area ahead, on the left curve, in front of the smaller pavilion with the blue roof. There is a gravel walking path by the building that will take you through the woods and spit you out next to the course map area.

There is a disc golf store down the road called Evolution Discs, great spot to grab some plastic, bags, and other accessories for your rounds.
