Fun but Very Rough Around the Edges 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-While the baskets are either homemade or older they all still catch pretty well.
-Nice variety of distances on this course. There are holes that range from about 220 feet to almost 600 feet.
-This course requires are large variety of shots. There are uphill shots, downhill shots, wide open meadow shots, doglegs left and right and then some fairly tightly wooded shots. This course will require almost all of the shots you have available to you.
-Pretty area and nice views of the surrounding mountains
-Multiple tees on quite a few holes. Most of the longer holes have a shorter tee, which is really nice to keep beginners interested in the course on the longer holes. I did find it interesting that hole 17, which is 580 feet and one of the longest holes on the course didn't have a shorter tee.
-Course never seems to get very crowded. There was only one group on the course when we played.
-This course is a pretty good hike. Make sure you bring some water, but you will get some nice exercise.
-The wind comes into play a lot on this course and definitely adds some challenge if it is blowing.

Cons:

-Navigation on this course is hard. There are little sticks in the ground pointing to the next hole, but they are small and can be easy to miss. The tee-signs are very close to the ground and can easy to miss if you are looking for them. We never did find the tee-pad for hole 4, it is supposed to be near the dining hall but we couldn't find it.
-A lot baskets are very hard to spot from the tee. We spend a lot of time walking up and down fairways looking for the basket so we knew where to throw.
-There are tee-signs at each hole, but they are not overly useful. They are hand drawn and don't provide too much information.
-The tee-pads were dirt and quite a few of them were a little rutted. I can imagine that the tee-pads would be quite muddy after rain.
-This course has a lot of very tall grass that you can easily spend a lot time looking for a disc. A lot of the longer holes have long carries over really tall fields of grass. The long grass can be very punishing to people who don't throw super far as they could spend a lot more time looking for their disc in the grass than big armed players. Several holes on this course could definitely use some mowing.

Other Thoughts:

This course has some really awesome fun holes. It's just a little hard to recommend due to it being very rough around the edges. If you are passing through the area, then this course is definitely worth playing but in it's current shape, it is not a destination course.
