Pros:

Spring Brook Resort - Winter 9 is a seasonal course set up on the ball golf course in the winter months. The layout was one of the better golf course layouts I've played in awhile now. They incorporate the wooded areas nicely to add some challenge and make it actually feel like a disc golf course.

The baskets are a hodgepodge of different brands. There's MVP, Axiom and Chainstar Lites for sure. There might've been another mixed in somewhere, I don't recall. Mostly MVP and Axiom though. These were all in pretty good shape and caught well enough. All the baskets were set up level too which is always a plus. One basket and, I'd assume, pin placement per hole.

The tees are all grass but since this is a functioning ball golf course that means these are about as good as can be found. No tee signs, only a blue wooden stake at the front corners of each tee area. The stake on the left side had the hole number written on it. Plenty serviceable for a course of this type.

As I mentioned above, they utilized the wooded areas nicely by tucking some pins into the tree lines and there's two ponds in play as well. Hole 8 is a straight up (ice) water carry over a little pond. Hole 9 also has a pond to the right of the tee. Not really in play without an absolute shank but still technically in play. I was pretty impressed with the design tbh.

The course plays in a clockwise loop starting and ending right by the path just north of the condos, which also leads you back to the lot you need to park in across the street. Very easy to navigate. There's hardly any walking between holes. Very seamless flow all around.

The course is free to play and there were even 2 portable toilets by the buliding to the right of hole 8 that were actually open.

Cons:

The baskets were all in pretty good shape when we played. It was kind of odd playing on that many different models in the same round though. The MVP baskets are black which makes them trickier to spot. If there was snow on the ground this would be less of an issue, but without snow I had to walk up the fairway a bit to spot these.

The course plays right alongside of I-90. Literally right next to it. Me and the wife couldn't hear each other from more than 20 feet away without yelling. If that even. One of the noisiest courses I've honestly ever played. It really killed any of the peacefulness you would've otherwise had on such a pretty piece of land.

If there's not snow on the ground expect lots of goose poop on the fairways. Not even just by the ponds. Everywhere. Luckily there will usually be snow cover. I'm glad I don't play ball golf here.

For the big arms there's not really any long bomber holes. It sticks to more shorter, slightly technical holes. Not technical really, but not wide open either. Not a con, but if you expect wide open throw after throw you'll be disappointed here.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting anything more than the usual random baskets slapped around a golf course. This course looked like there was actually some thought put into the design. I'd absolutely play this one again. There's even enough room to expand it to 18 if they wanted to. If it was designed like the current layout it'd be one of, if not THE best ball golf course set ups I've played. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing by and don't mind throwing in the cold.
