Starts Easy Then Gets Rough! 2+ years

Pros:

The Stoney Ridge DGC in Silt is kind of difficult to figure out. It appears to have not one but two practice baskets. The course starts behind the ball field and plays directly away from the field, across the big vacant lot. Don't believe anything I'm writing here because I was fairly confused the entire time I was attempting to navigate this strange course. The signage is sparse and inconsistent. So I think I was able to piece together the general route of the course.

So # 1 plays across the vacant lot to a basket over in the far corner. There I found a sign lying on the ground. I think # 2 was 250' across the lot to a basket by the street. # 3 got confusing coming back to ? One of the three baskets around where the two practice baskets are? Next 4 & 5 head out toward the old ball field which appears not to be used anymore. Then I play 6 & 7 before playing a short uphill hole, # 8, 165'. Now you're up on the ridge above the main field, out high above the right field fence. # 9 plays along the ridge line towards center field. # 10 is out in center field. Then # 11 plays on the ridge towards left field. # 12 plays back towards center field and finally # 13 is a downhill toss to a basket sitting behind the center field fence. These ridgeline holes feature some steep drop-offs and severe elevation changes.

The course has carpet tee pads and Discatcher baskets with the yellow bands. The signs are laminated plastic ones, many of which are missing.

Cons:

The layout is pretty confusing. It kinds of goes all over the place. Without an on-line map, I finally figured it out, but it took me quite a while.

Sketchy signage.

Tee pads are lumpy and inconsistent to throw off.

Area down by unused ball field has a real skanky feel to it.

The holes out past the outfield fence could be treacherous after a rain.

Other Thoughts:

Having two practice baskets seem like a major overkill on this course. Set one out somewhere and make a 14th hole, even if it's a short ACE run. I don't believe this course gets much play. With the ruggedness of those ridge holes, a certain population of players would probably stay away, including older senior types, families and others.
