Pros:
This course was designed in a small park
The course plays almost entirely in the woods, it will be well shaded in the summer and has a somewhat secluded feel in parts of the course.
The course will be great for red level players, forcing them to learn to throw lines.
There are restrooms just after hole 2 and there is parking at several places along the course. You can park near Holes 1,3 and 11-13.
There is a walking/running trail that weaves through the property and the course.
The signage is very well done including 5 foot tall next tee signs with the hole number and arrows. Overhead drawings on the tee signs have the distance shown on the intended flight path.
There are 2 tee pads on a couple of holes and most have 2 pin positions.
You can easily get through a round in under an hour.
There a few ace runs on the course. One being a 157' straight shot. This could go in the cons section also. That's a long jump putt for some people...
Cons:
A couple of the holes have quite a walk between them. This is obviously necessary because the design had to fit around existing paths, but still detracts from the experience slightly. For example after finishing hole 11, you see hole 13, but need to go across the parking lot to play 12. Then you walk back the entire length of 12 to the tee pad of 13.
Some fairways have a marsh off to the right. It doesn't interfere with the fairways, and probably won't flood high enough to affect the fairways, but one might have to retrieve a disc after some tree hate.
On hole 7, the fairway is very close to the running trail. I expect that newer players will throw discs on or over the trail on occasion.
In some cases the distance to a fairway turn might be a short distance away, but the remaining fairway is very long. For a red level player, this is fine, because they still have to make 2 accurate shots to get up to the pin. More seasoned players will be frustrated because you really should be able to park a 250' hole.
Other Thoughts:
This is a tough course to review. It is very definitely aimed at the newer player. The holes are short on distance, but an advanced+ person won't be able to park many of them.
So a Rec player will probably be happy with a par on most holes, while a more skilled player would be frustrated at a lack of birdie opportunity on the same holes.
Final thoughts:
A fair course for beginners, juniors or working on shots you rarely use.
Not a good course for more skilled players.
