Sal and his wife Theresa have a lovely little 18 hole course in their Spokane backyard of almost 6 acres. The land has a small amount of elevation and enough pines trees to make this a technical course. Although not long, (the longest hole is probably 300 ft.) the challenge is most definitly there. There are now 18 baskets, 9 are homemade replicas of discatchers and the other nine are the small temporary ones. The pads are natural and well marked. My favorite aspect of this course is the pine cone island. It is a a selection of railroad ties placed end to end in a semi-circular fashion and then filled up with pine cones. They represent an island on hole # 3. When you play it, the basket is located in the middle of it and any disc not landing on the "island" is OB or in "the water". When you play it on the back nine, the pine cone island is played as a water hazard and you have stay out of it while throwing to a basket on the other side of the "water hazard."

It's not as long most courses. It doesn't have the financal backing of a park department or a disc golf club so the baskets and pads are not what you find on many courses. There is a little signage but it's not really needed as the first time you play, you'll probably be guided by Sal himself.

Sal and Theresa are wonderful hosts and great ambassadors of the game. I think we all have dreamed at one time or another about designing and building a course of our own on our own piece of property. The area around Spokane is ideal for disc golf courses, not much underbrush, great climate, fairly cheap land, enough trees to add to the ambiance. There are now four private courses in this area (Tum Tum is not yet listed on DGCR). Along with the two nice public courses in town, Spokane is becoming kind of a disc gold destination. Well, it as long as long as you live in Washington or Idaho. Call Sal for directions and availablity. He'll be glad to light you up on his own backyard course.

T-N-T Acres is a private course just out of Spokane near Airway Heights, not far away from Fairchild Air Force Base. The owner Sal and his family were very welcoming to us and very nice, helping us navigate the course and thanking us for making the journey to their personal backyard disc golf course. The land that is used it not huge so the course is fairly technical with trees and lots and lots of o.b. that make this course enjoyable. Hole two is a 300 foot straight shot against the o.b. line on the right and up a hill, toughest on the course in my opinion. Hole three was my favorite though, a little pinecone island hole, about fourty feet wide and fifteen feet deep pit full of pine cones with a basket in the middle and everything out of the pit is o.b. and though the hole is only 150 feet this is either a birdie or bogey, or worse. Duel tees make eighteen as there are only nine baskets and navigation is fairly simple.

No big arm shots and not a challenge as long as you keep the disc in bounds which will result in many birdies.

I wish this course was in my backyard, I would hardly ever leave. If you have played Stimpi Ridge, which is on the other side of the Spokane then you are familiar with this type of course, it is very similar, with maybe a little more room, but lots of fun for the putter.
