Nice LIL School/Park Course

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 6, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice little recreational course set in a nice middle school property that also shares land with a city park. The course is short enough but also challenging enough for children and new throwers and low-level recs. There were some one disc chuckers enjoying the course while we were enjoying our round here. We stopped in for a leg stretching round on a recent multistate bagging trip and the course gave us a fun little birdie run and let us get out of the car for a few minutes. I'll have to admit I liked the slightly more wooded holes and agree that the cool-looking woods would be interesting to add holes too in the future, if possible.

The course looks like it is well lighted making nighttime play possible, if allowed.

Cons:

The course is partially set in a very busy park with several other activities and a walking path. The other part of the course is on school property so it might not be accessible during school hours. (I wish my middle school had a course like this next to it). The short distances might be a con to some. Keep an eye on your discs on the holes with the thick tall grass.

Other Thoughts:

Great little course for the kids, new throwers, and the after-work "one disc/one beer" crowd. Also a good course for stretching the legs if passing by.

I-57/ I-70 pit stop 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 18, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course plays around a small community park and through the backside of a middle school. Each hole has a nice big and level concrete tee pad with a post designating the hole number. Each Bastet is in good condition and have the hole number on top. Baskets can all be seen from the tee, but there is usually a small tree or two in play which forces you to throw a certain flight path. In general all the holes will be ace-able for experienced players, and they will likely be disappointed with anything more than a 2 on every hole. However, given the location of the course I'd say this fits perfectly into the intended demographic of players (perfect place for kids and newbies to practice and get introduced to the game). Great course to come play a single-disc round and/or ace chase.

Cons:

Some of the holes play over a low lying field that certainly floods and does not drain well.

Other Thoughts:

Around the perimeter of the park there are wooded areas that seem perfect to add a couple wooded, technical holes. Perhaps this land doesn't belong to the parks, but if it does seems like a definite missed opportunity to add some more interesting holes. All-in-all I think the course completes its objectives of catering to kids and newer recreational players. I will probably stop again if I need a quick stretch driving by on one of the passing interstates!

City Park that performs as it should 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 4, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete tee pads and tee markers, with multiple bag hangers. Distances are written on the tee hangers. Nice quiet park near a Junior High, most of the holes are away from the walking path and areas I would suspect would be higher traffic in the summer. Has a nice map (with a satellite view) near hole one with the basic rules of the game.

Trees are maturing in some areas that will improve the challenge, but at the end of the day, a course that strives to be a nice recreation nine-hole and succeeds.

Cons:

Holes 4 and 5 play over a marsh/leach that was very soggy when I played and would suspect is generally wet to damp.

The baskets are all numbered with metal plates featuring cut out numbers, so hole two and five are tricky to determine from a distance (as they look alike from the reverse).

Other Thoughts:

Hole seven makes for a good signature hole, with a few attack angles. New players will enjoy the course and the legitimate chance to strike a birdie. Players with a lot of experience (and the arms to match) will see some definite ace potential here.

The longest hole is 315' and the shortest is 185' which is respectable for a park course. All in all, the city did a great job building a course that fit their park and shouldn't be intrusive to the rest of the park's users.

It's not the type of course you should go out of your way to see, but if you live nearby you have a great place to hone your skills. It's only about a ten minute drive from the eighteen hole course in Effingham and would make a great place to warm up or cool down in an afternoon of games.

2.5 sounds about right! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 16, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

I would say 2.5 is pretty accurate to me. The pictures make it seem like a dark, dreary course but it's in the backyard of a junior high and a community park, which is a pretty fun place.

This course is very beginner friendly and offers advanced players more of a deuce-or-die / ace-run course. I played the entire course with a Sinus (overstable putter) and was significantly under 27.

The course flow was very intuitive and I feel the design takes advantage of the land pretty well.

Cons:

Given that this course is geared more towards beginners, it's not super challenging. While it's an easier, fun course, there are no really memorable holes and it almost leaves something to be desired. There is a really wooded area that the course plays around that would have been really appropriate for some nice wooded holes, but I'm sure this area was designated as off-limits.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, this is a quick 9 in Teutopolis. It's a fairly typical 9er that is exactly what you'd expect for a course set in the backyard of a junior high or a community park.

Nice 9'er 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 15, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

We'll start this out with a 2.5 and see where it goes!!

New course with nice concrete tee pads, hole markers (tall ornate 4x4's) w/ number and distance written on them.

Course flow was fine and elevation while fairly flat, was utilized over one valley area,

Typical city park course in that it uses mature trees as protection for the baskets.

Hole 7 comes to mind as the feature hole: solid row of mature trees on right side with the basket at the end and another tree just off the line to the left as protection. (Hard to verbalize the picture!!)

Cons:

Some would say distance, but this one boasts typical city park length. If you want longer, don't look at city parks!!

My only con is that it needs signage to spruce it up.

Other Thoughts:

My son and I played this as course 2 of a 5 course Interstate 70 trip and really enjoyed the course.

As I often write in the reviews, it's all about the fun factor. This 9'er rates a 2.5 in my book. Signs take it to a 3.
