“The Breakers” is one of my favorite courses played to date! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

"The Breakers" is a stellar 18-hole gem on the property of Harvest Bible Church of West Olive. This large piece of land was carved into a masterpiece of disc golf by the designers.

+ So, lets talk ammentities. This place literally has every single thing anyone could want a course to have. Concrete tees, colored (and accurate) tee signs, bright blue Prodigy baskets, restrooms after the 9th hole, practice area, etc etc etc. I've never played a course as fundamentally sound as The Breakers!

+ The design is awesome. There aren't any bad holes that stick out in my mind from start to finish. I have way too many favorites here to just choose one or two.

+ There is never a dull moment, with a fantastic mix of heavy woods and more scattered tree coverage. Both areas feature high risk-reward factor, as well as shot shaping and plenty of variety in distance.

+ It's a really clean course, and I hope locals can make it stay that way. There's trash cans everywhere to assist.

+ Outside of #2, it's a secluded and quiet course. Outside of noise from other disc golfers, you are in for a treat.

Cons:

- Elevation is lacking here and that's really the only thing keeping it from a perfect score in my book. While I was entertained from start to finish, others might be craving more in terms of elevation change.

- 15-18 are solid holes, but a little close together and under par with the rest of the course. A 5.0 course should have phenomenal holes from start to finish, and the ending few seemed a little lackluster.

Other Thoughts:

The Breakers is a course I would play over and over again if I was a local to the area. If I wasn't heading to Flip to get a round in before it closed, I would've played 2-3 rounds here. The Breakers is a must play in Western Michigan!
