Solid 9-hole course on Tennessee Tech University campus property, set in an area all to itself (not mixed with walking trails or throughout the campus buildings like many college courses do). Though given a small amount of space to work with, the designer did a nice job of creating hole variety, hole spacing, and logical flow. It has a good mix of longer more open (5) and shorter densely wooded (5*) holes. Not only is hole style balanced, but I like that it changes between the two styles every couple holes. The course has a balance of left, right, and straight tee shots along with some up, down, and level elevation. There are some ace runs and some longer holes requiring full tee shots for most.

Excellent color tee signs with map and hole info. Each of the holes has a unique name that relates to the school's mascot and history, always a nice touch. The tee boxes are made of 3 railroad ties and filled with a thin layer of mulch- they are easy to spot and get the job done.

*Hole #3 in the woods has 2 tees that play down to the same basket- one curves left-to-right and the other goes right-to-left, so there are essentially 10 holes. I just teed from both, then played both discs to the basket.

The wooded area is a low, swampy area that is often wet/muddy (this is clearly posted on the kiosk, however). The holes most affected are 3 and 8, though they appear to be playable most of the time , just bring proper shoes and a disc towel.

The day I played, there were several projects going on at the course: 1) on hole #2 there were large construction vehicles parked in the fairway; 2) there were several large hills of dirt that obviously had to do with the construction project; 3) there were hundreds of little yellow flags in the ground, possibly marking a go-cart or mini-bike course? I was still able to play with all these, but they were in the way and made the course ugly. I also wonder if the land will continue to be a disc golf course only.

Also, basket #9 was missing, but there was the remains of a large tree that had apparently fallen in that area. Not sure if the basket has never existed, was destroyed by the tree, or was just removed until it could be cleaned up.

And I took the wrong path from basket 8 and missed tee #9 (I should have gone left, but went straight.) Maybe it was marked, but I was looking down trying not to step in a swamp puddle!

I hope the course is there to stay and all the construction and little flags are only temporary. It was a pretty fun course, ideal for college to introduce people to the game, good for practice, and perfect for a quick round between classes.

I did not see a sign that restricted parking, so I assume anyone can play anytime (unlike other places on campus that require a parking permit during business hours). The parking lot is past the baseball field on the left as the road curves to the right. Tee #1 is right there.

I was pretty pumped to hear about this course as TTU is my alma mater and I am glad to see them as one of the leaders for collegiate disc golf. I only wish the course and/or disc golf team was there when I was in school!!!

Recommendation- Great course for the college students and those who live nearby, but not a course you would travel long distances to play.
