Fun pitch and putt course drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Excellent pitch and putt course. Played it with my 9 and 13 year old and they loved it. Every whole is birdieable which can be a pro or a con. Well maintained when I visited. Good parking and easy access off the interstate. I figure if I played every day I would have at least an ace a week.

First time I played it I did it solo and cranked out all 18 holes in 30 minutes. Second time I shot a -5 while playing casually.

Cons:

Very short.

Finally an 18 hole course in Wausau. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Finally there is an 18 hole course in Wausau. The course starts on the north end of the campus and winds around the open lawn areas and along a creek early and late in the round. There is a mix of nice new concrete tees and natural. There are tee signs by every hole. These aren't very informative with just the hole number, par and distance. No hole diagram but it's not really an issue as you can see every basket from the tee anyway. There are a couple next tee signs for a couple longer walks which is very helpful for first time players but pretty easy to find out where to go anyway. I believe these signs are after 4 and 17. The course is mostly flat but there are a few undulations in the terrain in a couple spots. Nothing major though. The baskets are MVP black holes that are all brand new and catch great. Blue bands around the top make them stick out nicely as well. The course is on the shorter side with hole 10 being the longest at a bit over 300 feet. The grounds were well mowed and in great shape. The course is free to play and in year round. Water in the form of a creek can come into play on holes 2,3,4, 5, and 18.

Cons:

The course is on the short side so if long bomber holes are your thing you'll want to look elsewhere. No benches, trash cans or restrooms on site. But it's a pretty quick play so not too big of a deal. Just worth mentioning. Other than that there's not much to nitpick here. It won't blow you away but it shouldn't disappoint either.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great addition to the Wausau area. Is it a destination course? No not at all but it's the first 18 hole course in Wausau. Yellowbanks is still the most challenging in the Wausau area and Big Eau Pleine is a must play for sure and one of my personal favorites but it's not actually in Wausau but close. This is going to get me personally to Wausau more often. This is a great place for newer or less skilled players getting into the game and a fun place for a casual round for more advanced players. It's also just minutes off of 39/51 if you're just passing through and got about an hour to kill. Great addition to the area for sure.

A New Course in Wausau 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very well kept, easy to follow course. Good baskets, nice concrete tees. A few holes require some creative shots and a little risk taking.

Cons:

Mostly short holes. There's nothing over 300' so this is not a distance course. The tees are all marked with numbers but there are no maps anywhere and hole #9 ends quite a ways from hole 1. My brother put a disc in the cattails on 9 and had to get wet and muddy to retrieve it.

Other Thoughts:

I was excited to see any new course in Wausau. It is somewhat reminiscent of Memorial, although it is definitely shorter (and cleaner). When my brother and I played on a beautiful Saturday we were the only ones there-probably because not many people know about it yet. I really liked the course, but it is not for long bombers. It's a nice addition to the lack of courses in Wausau and you could easily play here, Memorial, and Yellow Banks all in the same afternoon. Bonus: Briq's Soft Serve is right across the street.
