Super-fun 9-hole course built on private property in Jonesburg, MO. Hole one is a flat open throw, 2 throws longish downhill to the treeline, then 3-8 are in the woods. Very tight fairways that force you to throw forehands, thumbers and controlled backhands through stands of skinny trees. Some minor elevation changes throughout. Then 9 throws from in the woods out into the open again.

OJ was exceedingly friendly and truly a fan of the game. He went out early this morning before we arrived and spraypainted the tees and arrows leading through the course!
Natural tee pads were flat and covered with leaves, but entirely serviceable. The paths and fairways were lined with logs and big branches, making navigation intuitive and clear.

Being a private piece of land, there were no amenities like restrooms, but wasn't a problem.
The baskets were portable, and spit-outs were a risk, but again, totally serviceable.
Everything seemed pretty short, but deuces were elusive given the tightness of the layout. (Not so much a con as a fact)
Some of the holes had luck-ways more than fairways, forcing shots that I don't practice enough.

Turtle Oaks was a joy to play. The holes are not very long, and in most cases the next tee is very close to the previous basket, but that was fine as its not a public space.
It is definitely worth playing (we played 3 rounds), but make sure you make arrangements with OJ prior to coming out.

No termites (casuals) because this is a private course where the owner needs to know who is coming for some fun disc golf. Very peaceful setting on 5 acres with 2 open holes and the rest wooded. #1 is an open downhill hole until you approach the green with different sized trees protecting the pin. After that, prepare to toss a few Tommys and thumbers as lines to the pins are very tight, perhaps anywhere between 6 to 10 feet wide. Portable baskets are more than adequate. Fairways are lined with logs and dead trees. Tees are marked with numbered stones. 2 sets of tees to allow for different lines and a viable alternative to play an additional 9 holes. Quick and easy to follow for easy navigation. Some elevation changes and a small creek meanders thru the property to cause another slight nuisance.

Natural tee pads although most were flat and caused little problems. A little redundant as to distances and straight lines to baskets. Holes ranged in distance of about 180 feet to maybe 320 at the most. No facilities although, many trees are available.

As said in previous reviews, this is a private course and permission is needed to play. Also, OJ, the owner must be present. This is a plus, because this course's owner and designer is a true fan of this great game and you can tell he just loves to see people make the throws.

Nice short heavily wooded 9 holer with 2 sets of tee pads different enough to make a complete 18 hole course.

The owner OJ has put a lot of time into creating paths and upkeep on the course, but it keeps it's rustic look.

Short course for all of you short armers out there, and a good mix of right and left hand shots.

You need to make sure you get a hold of OJ in order to play, so it's not open at all times.

Played in winter, can't wait to play in the summer, but it will take away a lot of my thumber/scooby shots when the leaves grow in.

If you have a great straight short game, you will tear this up. If you have a huge arm and need room to throw, there might be other courses in St. Louis for you.

All in all, a great 9 holer, and OJ was more than hospitable. Can't wait to play again. Probably the best 9 holer I've ever played.

-Great use of available land. The course plays to the property lines on all sides.
-Good variety of hole types here. Holes require all shot types l-->r, r-->l, overhand shots all can be played off the tee.
-Two teepads that play different lines on each hole.
-Some slight elevation changes here, a couple slight downhill shots and a couple slight uphill shots.
-Fairways are pretty tight. You have to really hit your lines here to duece.
-OJ, the owner, was a really nice guy that played with us (group of 10). And started a fire for us since it was in the teens when we played.
-First and last holes play partially open and the rest play in the woods.
-Tee pads were all marked and cleared either with stone for the shorts and wood for the longs

-Course is short, since the lot was probably on 4 acres or so. No holes over 330', with most hovering at around 200'.
-The holes all kind of play pretty close together, luckily there were only 2 groups, I found myself on other holes fairways a couple times on errant shots.
-The course is really pretty rough. Although it seems like OJ put a ton of work into clearing what has been cleared, there was one or two holes where I just said "huh?" because there was no line to the hole.
-A couple of the tee pads were pretty rough, 9 is an example, it was a bit uphill and rough, hard to get any run up.

-I had a lot of fun out here with the STL traveling LAKER league. I would recommend bringing some friends out here and just enjoying the peace and quiet of this quaint little private course.
-Make sure you set up a time with OJ before coming out as there are certain Home Owners Assoc. rules and a waiver that must be signed.

Neat little 9-holer tucked into the woods behind O.J.'s house that makes use of damn near all of the property.

A surprisingly good design in such limited space that requires just about every shot type there is to score well on, especially if you play both sets of tees. A well-rounded thrower (forehand/backhand/roller/overhand) will definitely have an advantage. As such, its a great place to fine-tune those odd shots you don't normally throw at bigger or more open courses.

Thankfully, the course slopes down into and is mostly comprised of wooded shots, so the bitter winter wind is only a factor on holes 1 and 9.

Good company from O.J. himself, the dogs are very friendly and don't try to chase after/chew your plastic, and it's so far out of the way the only ambient noise you hear will be coming from the other golfers in your group or the trees as you thump them.

The sign to mark your turn-in for the neighborhood is completely obstructed when coming from the west, but should you get a date set up to play out there, O.J.'s directions are more than sufficient to get you there.

Holes 2-7 are tough enough to find lines through in the winter time, but its gotta be an absolute bitch when the leaves fill in. Likewise, it's hard enough to see pins from tees as it is, but i'd imagine it'll be unplayable without O.J.'s guidance come spring/summer. (Keep in mind though this is HIS course on HIS property, and rounds are only played by appointment, so making navigation easy for random casuals isn't a concern for him.)

No room to really stretch out your arm and throw some bombs. (I'd estimate course length is approx. 3500 feet total if you play a round from both sets of tees)

Don't hit the house! (or the dogs)

You are required to sign a waiver before playing absolving the homeowner and the HOA (odd that there is an HOA so far off the beaten path, as it were, IMO) of any responsibility should you bust your ass out there, but there's no real hazards to playing the course by any stretch of the imagination.

Cig smoking and beer drinking are not frowned upon specifically, but PLEASE TAKE ALL OF YOUR TRASH OUT WITH YOU!!!

All in all, a very fun course that'll humble folks such as myself who don't have a complete arsenal of shots, and a good time to be had with O.J. & co.
