Favorite Course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Gorgeous views
- Rarely other people playing, so there's no waiting
- Expanded from 10 holes to 18+ holes (I only played the 18 hole layout)
- Not many trees, so you can let it fly!

Cons:

- Hard to get to ($75 bucks for roundtrip boat)
- Not the most exciting layout (also due to the lack of trees)

Other Thoughts:

There are few trees, but that is evened out by the true challenge: THE WIND. This course is in the middle of Catalina's isthmus, which essentially makes it a wind tunnel. I love the challenge and all my drivers are 125-140g, so it's doable for anyone!

Beautiful Views and more holes than listed here 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Such beautiful views on this course. You can see the ocean on two sides because of the location in between the two harbors on Catalina. Nice mountains and peaceful grassy knolls with a few holes in lightly wooded areas. Seriously the beauty and majesty of this course can not be overstated! It is really amazing.

The baskets and tees are used in several combinations to make up 22 holes, most with good signage. Pretty easy to navigate the course.

Some holes are quite windy, which gives a great opportunity to practice unusual shots and conditions and improve your game.

Feels really special to play on a course that's so remote.

Cons:

a bit dusty, bring water. A fair amount of pedestrians walking through certain holes.

Some holes have signs missing or facing wrong directions.

some of the holes seem a bit too similar, and could be creatively moved around for a more interesting experience.

there are some spiky/pokey plants on some fairways, probably best to wear long pants.

Boat trip over there was extremely bumpy and turbulent. I rarely feel seasick, but this ride had my feeling very yucky. Highly recommend taking seasick pills before you board.

Other Thoughts:

Latest map on DGCourseReview seems quite outdated- some holes have changed places entirely, and many more have been added.

Overall a really fun course, and if you can make a trip of it and do some other things in the area such as kayak, etc it will be even better.
