quick stop for a course collector

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

The saving grace of this course is my daughter arguing with me that this is a great course to introduce children to the sport. She is absolutely right. It is only 6 holes so they wont get to tired and the challenge level is appropriate for all ages of newer players.

Nice arrows on the baskets to help with navigation.

There is a nice playground for the kids

I liked hole 5 by the road. If it was possible for a pitch and putt to have a signature hole, 5 would be it.

Cons:

All signage was very basic or missing.

No bathrooms or amenities.

NO PARKING

Course was flooded in numerous areas

The Udisc information was wrong on hole 4 and it was confusing how to play it.

Holes are very short and the layout is mostly suited for intermediate and below.

Other Thoughts:

Unlike other beginner courses, it is clear that someone with disc golf experience helped create the course.

Bring a Putter for 12 minutes of Fun

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 12, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Other Thoughts:

A very short 6 in a small neighborhood pocket park. The park is shaded by lots of old growth trees, and somebody calling himself Daddy Disc Golf designed a six hole layout in 2017

This is a place to introduce newbies, send kids to play, or to work on upshots. They've squeezed it in and around other facilities: #1 and #2 around the tennis court, #3 and #4 around the dog park. There's nothing wrong with it so long as there aren't other park users wandering around

Five of the six holes are in the 100' - 150' range. Everything is straight, and you're just throwing around and between trees

Hole #5 plays along the backside of the park: almost 300' with scattered trees, and a slope down to the road along the right side. This one felt like a real hole that you'd find in larger parks

Short little signs (fiberglass DGA with the stickers) - they're literally below waist level. A couple of signs are missing. The MVP baskets are at normal heights though

Somebody had the vision and energy to add disc golf to a small park. Maybe it serves kids living in the neighborhood or residents who want to toss a putter after work. I stopped on my way through the area with a newbie, and the place was perfect for introducing someone to the game in a setting that isn't just an open field. So thank you, Daddy Disc Golf.

For the rest of us, this is a bagging stop that takes more time to drive to than play. It might even take longer to read the DGCR reviews than to play it.

Minimally Acceptable Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 31, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Victory Street is a 6-hole course that has no major issues with what is there. It's located in a small park that includes some other recreational structures--a very communal, neighborhood feel. Tee signs vaguely suggest natural tees, but the six baskets are nice Prodigies. The holes present decent variety for all being under 200' (with one exception). The exact line you choose will be flexible, but a few mature hardwoods somewhat restrict shot shape. There's no doubt that the all-star hole is (5), a 300' tunnel shot with OB road on the right. It's the only hard hole on the course.

The flow is good and the course is "friendly", i.e. easy to play, well-kept, and hard to lose discs on. It's the perfect introduction to disc golf, and a good place to go ace-hunting (I personally dunked (4)).

Cons:

Most obviously, the course is 6 holes and under 1500'. Super short. I knocked this one out in about 15 minutes, and that was a very leisurely pace. There's just very little to interest an experienced player.

The small nature of the overall park could be an issue, too. Street parking is all that's available if that makes you uneasy. Also, on a nice day I could see it being pretty busy and the fairways obstructed by picnickers, small children, and such.

Other Thoughts:

Victory Street is so small that there's nothing much to write. I think the adjective that best describes it is "Passable", as it is a perfectly executed 6-hole course designed to nothing more than a fun fling. If you're looking to bag a course super quickly, it's an ideal candidate, but otherwise I don't know why anyone would travel far to play it.

Fun Little Course-Excellent Option For Newbies! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 25, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

As you drive up to Victory Street Park on Victory Street, you're welcomed with two Street signs, one says "Dog Park" and the other reads "Disc Golf Course-First Tee." Boys and girls, Disc Golf is becoming more mainstream all the time.

Victory Park is a smallish neighborhood park a block wide and maybe three blocks long. The primary occupants of the park is the fenced dog park. There were a couple of discs lying in there. The park has a nice looking children's playground and this great little beginner disc golf course.

The course starts in the center of the park between the play area and the dog park. There is a small golf rules sign and the tee sign. The old school fiberglass tee signs are only about two tall and they give you the hole #, distance and a basic map. There are no tee pads, just slightly worn spots in the grass. One was particularly slippery. The baskets are a pretty, powder blue colored, model MVP Disc Golf.

Like previously mentioned, the holes average distance is 181'. They range from # 5 at 252' to # 4 at 126. Most of the holes are straight forward with a little hyser needed. # 5 plays straight down between the dog park and the street. But # 4, the shortie, was my pick for signature hole. It's only 126' BUT the basket sits behind two trees with about a five split between them. An Ace is a possibility here if you can only hit that narrow gap.

Ace possibilities on every hole.

Almost perfect course to bring that beginner or elementary school player.

Cons:

Not a whole lot in the Cons Department. The grass around the # 3 basket under water so I had to get my feet wet pulling my awesome birdie putt out.

The area around # 4 had standing water.

181' average distance.

Four or five holes were simple straight throws just needing a little hyser at the end.

Other Thoughts:

This little six hole course is great for the newbie. Short, straight forward holes with no underbrush. No chance of losing your disc. Ace runs abound. Also, this would be a fun course to come and play Ace Race with your buddies. Excellent course for putter and mid-range practice.

Not intended for advanced players !

Special note. My 1200th course!

Nice Beginners/Practice Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 7, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice layout with limited space.
Good mixture of open and moderately wooded holes.
Perfect practice course to work on your short game.
Very nice MVP Black Hole baskets.
Easy to navigate.
Nice tee signs.

Cons:

Grass tees.
Only 6 holes.
Street Parking.

Other Thoughts:

This is the 2nd 6 hole course in Harford County, and it is very different than the one at Churchville. Almost completely level throughout, but provides an adequate challenge for beginners and advanced players alike. The aged trees added significant difficulty to the short distance course. Thank's Daddy Disc Golf for putting this in.
