Rotterdam Center 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 2, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-This is a very well maintained course located close to the center of Rotterdam.

-The layout was really nice. The little change in elevation of the terrain was well used, as were the few trees. In addition #8 and #11 demand to throw even more accurate as they were heavily wooded.

-Advanced players might like the lengh of the "not-so-technical" holes as they call for a long drive.

-Hole #5 crosses a small canal, and was very fun to play.

-You play a full round through the park, so basket #12 is right next to tee #1.

-Tees as well as baskets were in great shape. I really do like the (typical dutch) engraved-metal-plate teesigns on the teebox.

Cons:

-There was no course-map onsite. Finding my way was a bit difficult as the map online was not up to date and there are no teesign-posts.

-I assume that the park might be well visited by other people in summer. There are certain areas where traffic can be a problem.

-The concrete block tees are very slippery when wet.

-Most of the walking paths and certain areas were really flooded/swampy when i played. You might skip coming here after heavy rain.

Other Thoughts:

The park is accessible by car and public transportation alike.
You can also get there easy by bike from the city center (20min).

Download the map to find your way the first time.

One of the best in the Netherlands 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 16, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

* Teepads, baskets and fairways are all really well defined
* All baskets had a "next tee" arrow that was pretty accurate
* Course is relatively easy to follow (transition from 3-4 was a bit hard, and #8 to #9)
* Near the city center and the Zuidplein metro. About ~15 min walk to hole # 1 from the mtro, or you can start at hole #4 and it is ~8min (600m)
* Park was pretty empty, only had to wait on a few people with dogs (played on a Thursday morning)
* Holes were long enough for some challenge
* Good use of what little elevation there is in the park.
* O.B. and Mandos are clearly marked on the tee signs
* Plenty of parking if you bring a car or bike
* Hole #12 ends really close to #1

Cons:

* Only 12 holes
* Course doubles back on itself once or twice
* Transition from Hole #3 to #4 (across the water) was a bit confusing
* Hole #11 really needs to be trimmed a bit. Very easy to lose a disc on that hole.

Other Thoughts:

Super happy there is another course in the Netherlands and in Rotterdam where I live. I love Roel Langerak Park, but it is just too busy when the sun is shining.

This course clearly has had a lot of time and effort put into it. I'd say this is my favorite one that I have played in the Netherlands so far.

Update Oct 23rd: The park has trimmed up hole 11 significantly and it is much more accessible now. #8 has been trimmed as well and that has lowered the difficulty on that hole. Could also be the difference between playing in August and now end of October but it looked like there were quite a few bushes/trees taken down.
