Have a small tear on my right shoulder that's forced me to throw lefty in order to get out on the course at all. After 6 or 7 rounds, my score isn't that far off my righty scores. WTF!?!?

I have nowhere near the distance, but have pretty surprising accuracy. It's kind of fun, but frustrating when thinking about my normal game. I've come up with a theory:

My first year of playing just gave me bad form and bad habits that I'm now struggling to undo. I believe the whole "muscle memory" that I'm trying to unlearn is slowing my RHBH developement as a more serious player.

My left hand however, never learned any bad habits. It's starting from scratch, as many of us often wish we could. I've noticed that my follow through is actually much smoother and more correct as a lefty. It's kid of fun to see the rapid improvement in something that felt so alien a few rounds ago.

I won a casual round last night with guys I usually only beat by a few strokes righty. They were pretty ticked that I won lefty, but did get a huge laugh out of my super-girly left handed thumber attempt. Won't try that again anytime soon.

Anybody here been forced to throw with their weak arm and have any results like this?

When I ruined my shoulder I tried some lefty while it healed. My biggest problem seemed to be the proper grip with my left hand. Mostly I used that time to let a lot of other previous injuries heal.

I had two surgeries in the last year on my right elbow which forced me to start throwing lefty. Iam around 280-320 on my drives so iam getting better with that , but the toughest thing for me is putting iam still missing that 10-15 foot putt at times. My left arm is getting stronger the more i throw so dont give up on it bro it might seem really hard at first but you will get used to it.

i was just messing around earlier today after a round and i threw righty a few times (im LHBH) and i felt like my form was so much better. wasnt getting near the distance, but form felt great.

I also pictured you (dont know what you look like, but just had an image of a big burly man) throwing a super girly tomahawk and letting out a girly high pitched EHH! i started laughing uncontrollably.

Lol! Naw, I'm a skinny dude, which made it all the funnier!

I tore my tricep, so I just threw all forehands except for putting (which has always been awful anyhow)

I played right handed for the first couple of years. I decided to try throwing left handed one day and it immediately felt more natural. Within six months I was throwing better than I was throwing right handed. The switch was made 15 years ago and I've never looked back. I still tomahawk and flick right handed and on occasion will putt right handed if needed.

I throw rhbh/lhfh and can some what switch it around. the reason i have for throwing how i do is i played baseball for 15 years. Swinging a bat is almost the same motion which gave me the bh, and pitching gave me my fh.

Strange update:

We had a camping trip that I was trying really hard to heal my shoulder up for, as there were two beautiful, but huge courses where we were staying.

Upon arriving and throwing at my practice basket, my shoulder was sore as hell. Bummer.

Threw the first round lefty, but then some pros came out from Buffalo and Rochester to meet up with us. I decided to bite the bullet and try righty to avoid looking like a complete n00b.

First throw. Zero pain. Nothing. Felt brand new. The rest of the weekend was the same, and my shoulder still feels perfect. After an entire month of not being able to open doors right handed, I am healed between rounds.

I'm pretty sure it is a tear, but I'm wondering if my lefty form carried to my right, using different muscles and not strong arming. My righty follow through is MUCH better, and I swear, my discs have never flown better!!!

I'm chalking it up as a miracle, but needless to say, I am a happy camper!!!

i know i make throwing lefty seem pretty easy, but it's not as simple as i make it look!

welcome to the cult

I'll be immediately going back to righty, but I'm not gonna lie, I have thrown a few lefty throws in casual rounds since healing. It is nice to have in my arsenal.

I learned how to throw Lefty playing Ultimate.. I use my left hand mainly for downhill putter shots that I need to end Right. Its certainly nice to be able to throw left handed if needed but its always nice to be able to throw with your dominant hand! Oh btw got my second left handed ace a couple weeks ago....you knowww!

I'm right-handed in every other sport you can think of golf, basketball, baseball, etc. But in discgolf I'm LHBH I've decided this is because swinging a golf club/baseball bat right-handed is more like throwing a golf disc LHBH than RHBH.

Sucks because I have no LHFH game like a natural lefty might, So all my FH shots fade right (RHFH) just like my BH ones (LHBH).

Could've been a dislocation (not a tear). Proper form will eliminate the stress after the "relocation".
