[MVP] MVP Axis

I vowed I wouldn't be buying or trying ANY discs for some time - I went on a rampage this past year and ordered way too many discs - well, I went through the stash and determined, yep, I have more than enough. backups of backups....etc....im set. BUT....dangit I want to try an Axis haha. It seems very Buzzz-like. I use an Alias and a Matrix right now. I'd assume this wouldn't be something to add to that but rather something to replace one of those?

Anyone have a great Axis story? Other than being destroyed by the Allies. ---Axiom needs a mid called the Ally

I'm a staunch Axis man. (It is very Buzzz-like. I switched to it from Cryztal Buzzzs, which were hard to find.) It can replace both the Alias and Matrix. I had a Matrix from a circuit event, and it started beating in and losing HSS too quickly, so I baled on it, but it's a great disc.

The Axis is just a hair faster than the Alias, iirc. I didn't really care for the Alias after just a couple of throws, for whatever reason.

In CLT, it's all woods golf, all the time, and I throw the Axis a LOT. Eclipse is $$ in those situations where it's getting late, kind of dusky, and you kick off into the woods. I can almost always see it from the fairway. It "glows" in the late daylight, lol. I swear.

I won't 100% swear to this, but I feel like in Ecl, it retains HSS marginally better than, say, N, over time. That could be, like placebo effect though.

edit: even the name is perfect, because it is basically the disc around which the rest of my bag revolves.

I hate you ----because I really want one now. haha next time im at a store or have store credit or league $ ill look at those. haha, But yeah I love the Alias, SOOOOOOOO straight, but I have 6 of them and 2 of them don't feel as great (domey too firm plastic) so I think it depends on the ALIAS you get, I have 3 that are GLORIOUS and 1 that's just fine, and 2 that are just ok. I found a Matrix that's 177g and DEAD FLAT and it flies superb, so.....idk, lord knows I don't NEED any new discs, but if I get anything it'll be an axis. :hfive:

I think that in terms of flight, there's not a ton of difference between the Axis and Alias. The Axis just felt natural in my hand from the start, because it (frankly) has a very similar profile to the Buzzz.

This actually reminds me...the Ecl Axis in my bag, I pulled out a couple of weeks ago to distract my kid with something...and I still don't know where it is. Haha, i'm like 99% sure it didn't leave the house, but I've done a couple of cursory sweeps of the premises, and so far, no dice.

I need to turn the place upside down....

But, mostly, I probably need to order a couple backups, since I'm likely getting ready to start playing more again since the spawn is older now.

Note to self: next time you want to distract your kid, go dig out that POS blizzard Boss you got in a players pack once, that has a double dome that looks like a 1/2 popped thing of Jiffy Pop.

Yeah I recently re ignited my love for the Axis.. Good glide.. I LOVE my firstrun that's been nicely broken in.. I haven't clicked with the eclipse one I have it needs a dirty beating before its baggable. I haven't thrown the Alias but the Axis is an amazing glider and line holder.

Has anyone thrown the plasma or has anyone seen the plasma is in a standard release other than the circuit stamps

Plasma Axis I have is a Circuit series one. I have not seen a stock stamp on this one. Plasma flies like a beat in Axis. The Axis was my first MVP disc and it really is a fantastic disc. I prefer it in Neutron. The one I bag is board flat. The Plasma can hold similar lines but I find it has too much turn off the shelf. If I do bag it, it might replace my Tangent for similar US lines. I do like the Axis though.

Thanks man, is it 178-179g ? I definitely don't want to replace the Tangents right now.. But that sounds real tempting.

I thought so too, until I lost mine in this exact same scenario.

AND I'M STILL VERY ANGRY ABOUT IT.

(That was a great disc)

178g. I like my Tangent as well. That is why I just have the Neutron Axis and sometimes I bag a heavy Sparkle Proton if I need one with a bit less HSS and more LSS. My Neutron is seasoned to perfection though -- it only took 6 years. :D

Yeah the breaking in process and my eclipse Axis is pretty much why I shelved my first run... it's kind of funny I love that Disc but when I have trouble finding an adequate backup it's like I don't want to throw it for fear of it disappearing.

I also bought eclipse axis and vector to see if they would replace my rocs (got tired of them beating in so quick) and I have to say they are quite promising. I have keep testing them to see how they age over time.

I don't think there's a better disc for a long straight tunnel shot.

That said, if you fluff it it'll fade out or if you throw it off line, it'll go there. If you're on though, the Axis is on and perfectly straight.

My take on Proxy, Alias, and Axis. Alias is sort of a cross between the Proxy and Axis. Alias isn't as long or glidey as the Axis. All are straight. In terms of forgiving nature Proxy >= Alias > Axis. In terms of distance Axis > Alias >= Proxy. All are wonderfully straight. I prefer to bag Proxy and Axis combo but I could see if someone didn't bag Proxy bagging the Alias instead. Depends on bag setup.

Oh, and my turquois-ish blue Eclipse is the sexiest disc I own.

Yeah, unfortunately I've lost multiple of them as well, actually, but that's just ubiquity of use. I must throw something like 60%+ of my tee shots with it.

I am trialing my proton alias (which I love) against a circuit series plasma axis. They seem pretty similar. Need to put in few more rounds. Doubt I bag both, unless the axis proves much more understable. I prefer the plasma plastic to the proton, but I've already put in a lot of time with my alias.

I guess now I have to buy a Plasma or 2.

I'm wrestling with that too, damn I want to get a plasma Axis or two.. But I've got 4 tangents, 2 Axis already and about 160 bucks worth of Envys and a Crave in the mail.. Haha I would have bought one if it wasn't 16 bucks postage

Yeah, I'm leery of losing my 1st run too. It's so broken in though. It's like a straight blade razor, crazy precise in experienced hands but you're gonna get nicked up if you're sloppy.

That's exactly it I don't know if mines quite there yet but between that and my Vector the eclipse Axis is almost the missing link. I keep beating it but I can't trust it enough to beat it like it deserves. Can 3 g really make a difference?

Dammit they must be planning on a full plasma run right? Any freaky differences with the plasma Axis? I haven't tried it but I already know I won't like it in Neutron..
