Trash Talk?

How many out there trash talk other players to throw off their game? Random guy I didn't know that finished the last hole ahead of me stood around to watch my drive then harassed me on my putt. I missed a 10ft putt for birdie. The other guys with him told him he was a dick for it though.

I've never ran into this before with disc golf, I know in other sports its a big part of the game to throw off your opponents psyche, but I was just playing against myselft.

Anyone else experience anything similar?

$#!+ like that doesnt faze me. I miss most of my putts regardless of some bonehead talkin' trash right next to me.

You know what intimidates me? When a pro tells me 'great shot!' It always turns out being the last great shot of the day, lol.

When somebody is bantering me because they are having a genuinely bad day, I will usually call them out on it and try to get them to take the rest of the day off (or at least the rest of the round).

Casual banter that is intended to mess with my game does not affect me at all.

Trash talk may be part of football, basketball, boxing, and many other sports, but personally I've never encountered it on the course, whether playing leagues, tournaments, or casual.

Quite to the contrary, most people I've played with (even competititvely) are usually pretty encouraging, syaing "Nice run" for a decent looking putt that misses, or "Good putt", when even remotely deserved.

I have never run into any trash talking. Most of the guys I have bumped into on the course have been very helpful with great suggestions to improve my game. I did not think DGer's were trash talkers. Although, every time I see Nikko call a foot fault on someone, I kind of think he is trying to get into their head.

I never trash talk. Whats the point? I let my game do the talkin

If you need tricks to throw off your opponent's psyche, there's something wrong with your own game.

Chain Addicted has been known to talk some trash,he is the sole reason that I play poorly. :|.

:|.

I'll trash talk my normal DG partner, but we don't compete, I'm just busting his balls. He, of course, responds in kind.

But I've never seen anyone actually trying to get in someone's head. To those who do engage in that practice: don't be a prick.

It wasn't this guy was it?

I have had someone during a tourney start trash talking me. So I stepped it up and made him never want to do that again with a constant barrage smack talk. He shut up after a couple of holes.

Apparently at Am Worlds in Rochester some guy in a group in front of me was acting like a little girl and his group had enough of it so they called over a course TD and the TD told her she needed to quite acting like a little bizznitch or he was done. Thought it was a pretty appropriate response from the TD.

Generally speaking though - the only time trash talk is involved is when playing with my normal DG buddies - we have one friend who gets really emotional if you talk about a putt he missed - in fact if one of us is putting poorly we call it having a "Brink," day b/c that's the emotional ones name.

Yeah I've never seen it either, but I guess if it was just annoying me, I would tomahawk my putter into his sack region, and just say "Sorry bro, I'm just no good under pressure"

I'll joke with certain players but buggering someone while they're throwing just shows ones bad character.

Next time some one trash talks you start finding rocks along the course and add them to his bag one at a time. Of course you want rocks that are not too big but will add weight. By the end of the round his bag should weigh twice as much as it did when the round started.

I play in tourneys every other weekend, and everybody in my league talks trash to each other. We even have a thread set up on our clubs website for every tourney to start the trash talk a week or two out from the tourney. Then there is trash talk during the rounds, and sometimes even at the awards ceremonies. We are a very tight knit group though and everybody knows that it is all in good humor. I think rounds where people dont talk trash are kind of boring. I hate getting on a card with someone who is averse to trash talk. It is NEVER hateful and NEVER done when someone is actually falling apart. Just in good spirit.
