Best disc golf city in the country?

Haha, I don't know about that after having just been to Dallas. I'm quite happy where I live in MD and the caliber of courses I can get to within 30min, and then within 60-90min is quite a list.

Let's throw another factor onto the fire. I've been looking at the remaining demand for disc golf courses in those cities that have a lot of courses.

The Twin Cities could fill up as many as 12 more 18-hole courses if they were built within the Minneapolis/Brooklyn Park high-population-density corridor.

Chicago could use a ton of new courses just about anywhere in that vast sea of people.

Charlotte, however, seems to have "enough" courses for the local population. By that I mean that another new course there may not be busy all the time.

There may be other cities with enough courses for their population, but Charlotte is the place with the most courses that also has enough courses to satisfy the local demand.

On the opposite side, I wonder where the least served area is, especially for private courses, with a city around 100k nearby.

I only have one 3.25ish rated course here locally, and have roughly 20 within 50-60 miles, but due to traffic differences, I'd bet that I can get out to a course 50-60 miles away quicker than some of the more urban folks can get to one 25-30 miles away. I can also probably play it quicker when I get there.

There's something to be said about having a decent amount of courses available in relation to the population of an area, even if the courses aren't top notch. I doubt that I would have gotten as hooked on this game as I have had I been introduced to it in an area where there may be plenty of courses, but demand for them is so great, that the supply is inadequate, and I have to endure 30-60 minutes gridlocked in traffic for the privilege of getting to one.

I haven't played all areas obviously but DFW is an awesome area to play. many, many courses to choose from with many highly rated. One key factor to the quantity is everyone has a good chance to find the type of course they like.

I'm sticking by my vote on the small town front. 3 courses rated over 4 with less than 30,000 total pop.

Scarpfish-well said, it's nice to get places fast and not be crowded once you get there.

^ yeah i seriously was about 2 more holes from a heat stroke when i played Cedar Hill. thank god they had a water spicket at the next camp area in the park. i laid under it for about 5 minutes to cool off.
