Just looking for feedback from the DGCR world as to why those of you with no trades, buys or sales (0 iTrader feedback) Why you've never participated in the great marketplace we have here? (not looking for "didn't want to spend the 5 bucks on a crown", that answer is ridiculous, as it hasn't been around that long) After all there are some really good deals to be found, and great people to work with. Alternatively there are a few headaches to be had, but with anything there are ups and downs...

Any other responses, comments or feedback will be appreciated. Just lookin' for your

If there is already a thread about this, oh well.

All in all, I feel the MP here FAAAAR surpasses dealing with Ebay

I'm hoping to mostly get responses from people who DON'T use the MP ;)

Because its a super cluttered disorganized mess. I don't want to have to sift through 200 threads to find something I would perhaps want, or have to continually bump my own thread to keep it from dropping an entire page every hour. Even Craigslist has some modicum of a search to help sort things out.

Confessed User Note:

What I've noticed is that, while still the best B/S/T forum, the Marketplace has lost diversity of offerings since going to a pay-to-play platform.

This is definitely a pitfall of the MP, but some people learn to love it. I think a lot of the disorganization originates with lazy sellers who don't want to make a new thread each time they sell something. I have learned to ignore posts that clearly have been active for a long time (# of views is a good hint) simply because I assume I already looked at the thread and didn't want anything. I don't care if you put something like, "Check back often" or "Updated often" in your title. It's stupid.

I have a good local shop near me with a decent used selection and I know plenty of people who have plastic for sale. I have never purchased any plastic while sitting at a computer.

I don't know what you're talking about, I can find just about every possible roc3 weight/color/stamp combination under the sun

Pretty much sums it up for me.

My time is more valuable than money in this case, so if eBay is $1.00-$5.00 more so be it. I can find what I want in a matter of seconds. Plus eBay offers the buyer some protection vs the MP where every transaction is a crapshoot. Maybe I find an excellent seller or maybe I find the crook, with no means of protecting my money I don't feel safe in the MP.

Just my $.02, longtime eBay'er and never bought a single thing on the MP.

This is basically why I don't trade here often (or online at all, really)

I have very few discs that are in high demand, and most people don't have stuff that's interesting enough for me to seek out. Easier to get my wants from online stores and sell stuff I don't need locally.

I have two awesome stores near me that will order whatever I want in whatever plastic or weight. I have a slew of disc golf collectors in my area that have all the OOP I could ever want. Why would I spend my time supporting somebody across the nation when I can support the person I play golf with every week or so?

I would spend more time searching the MP but it's such a mess that I really don't care to sift through thousands of threads of crap to find the one gem. I'll post things I'm looking for in my signature and if people send me a PM saying they have some, awesome. If they don't, oh well, I can find it locally.

It IS the $5 fee, I can just reply to something I'm interested in, but not create a thread. Why not just block anyone who hasn't paid the $5?

Never used the marketplace.
Background: I'm not a collector. I play all the time but rec level with buddies and during road trips. I probably own 50+ discs but I only carry 5-7 at a time.
Disc Sources: I try to buy discs from the local private course's pro shop. I'd rather line their pocket than anyone else's. I also buy discs from the local club if I do play a doubles tournament. And on road trips - if I play a club's doubles round or stop in a local shop, I might get a disc from them. I think I bought 3 or 4 on my trip to the IDGC.
I've bought discs online but it feels like buying clothes online - they show you a pic and tell you the size/material/feel, but I never know for sure until I hold/throw a disc. I might buy online at Christmas, if I'm trying to one-stop-shop several different specific discs. I have gone to sites through ads on this site.
Trades: I just swap out discs with my buddies. When I'm having a bad round they'll hand me a disc and if it works, I hold on to it for a few months. If I don't like it I just give it back. Half the discs in my bag have my buddy's name/number on them.
I really don't buy any other disc golf paraphernalia, just LED lights as I've been playing lots of glow rounds this winter. I got a headlamp at REI, I swiped packaging tape from my office, and the LEDs I got on one of the sites that advertises on dgcr.

I used to buy from the marketplace more. I still do from time-to-time, but not nearly as much. There are a couple reasons:

1. It's a cluttered mess that's hard to sift through. I ignore most threads with catchy titles and only go for ones that have what I'm looking for in the title.
2. I generally prefer to buy new anyway, so for stock stuff, it's easier to go to a more traditional retailer. I buy mostly OOP on the marketplace.

I use the MP, but it took me awhile to make the leap because the amount of work involved can be a bit intimidating. Photos, links, etc., takes a bit of work. Also, when you have no feedback it can be tough to really get into it.

Now that I use the MP, I would love to see a limit on stickies. There are just way too many, and it takes up most of the front page, making it near-useless to start a new thread.

And my final thought, which may or may not be related, is this: a lot of disc golfers are cheap bastards and lowball way too much, not thinking about the price of shipping. We are already usually listing discs in good condition at low prices, but people still aim low. I know it's a marketplace and we all have the right to bargain, but it gets tiresome.

All in all, though, the MP is great and I encourage people who are on the fence to give it a go.

By the time I found DGCR[just over a year ago], I had all the discs I could want to throw, and generally find more than enough unmarked discs every year to keep the poke full. I also buy from disc shops in Boise and Portland[NOT sporting goods stores]. I don't buy "wall" plastic, just discs I actually use.

Searching is very simple. If you want a disc, type the name in the search and browse threads that it's mentioned it.

I understand some people are lazy but the marketplace really is about the best place to buy discs. Ebay sucks.

I hate trying to find what I am looking for. The idiots that title their thread "Everything must go", make it a pain in the ass. You have to click on 50 different threads with titles that tell you nothing, only to find out they are just selling a pile of used DX crap.
