Heya folks!

I'm having another bag dilemma as I contemplate whether to add a mold in between my Underworlds and my Stags. This would bring my driver total up to 4 (I don't use distance drivers), which I consider less than ideal, as I like to keep my mold count down. But I've been finding holes where I'd like to have a HSS, straight-to-minor-fade disc often enough that I'm considering giving adding another mold another go.

In the interest of assuaging my perhaps unnecessary and unconstructive concerns, I wanted to see how many fairway/control drivers you all carry. Your particular definition of control driver may vary, but I'm think speed 6 (Leopardish) to speed 9 (Saint/Furyish). So, let's have it! Any explanations as to your approach would be welcome and appreciated.

Yeah, sorry if I was unclear - I should have worded it "how many different fairway/control driver molds do you use"? Individual discs in different plastics/weights/etc isn't what I'm asking about.

Sorry for the lack of clarity!

I don't know much specifically about the Stag or underworld, but if you got a TP Stag and beat it a LOT, would that fill the spot between a VIP stag and underworld?

QJLS, C-PD, S-PD.

The more overlap I have the harder my disc selection becomes...which leads to second guessing myself and/or regretting which disc I threw. Mids really do fly far some people just don't want to admit it.

At the moment 4. Fd,Stag,Valk,Firebird.Probably going to replace the Fd with river. But I don't use any 11-13 driver for now.

I had been hoping this would be the case, but probably not. I have a TP that is reaching moderately beat status, and it's losing its HSS while having the same LSS - basically the progression of an Eagle X. This has been great for certain situations, but is still leaving me with a stability gap. I do have an Air Stag on the way that I'm curious to see about - if the fade kicks in noticeably later than my Tourneys, it may be what I'm after. If not, I'll try a heavy Opto River and/or an FD.

I usually stick to 3, one for each slot(OS, S, US). Right now I'm rocking a flat, OS Champ Firebird, a dead stable 11x CAL TB, and a Champ Sidewinder for rollers and extreme turnovers. I also carry a C-PD for shots between the TB and the FB, although I would consider that to be a distance driver since it is speed 10.

I just carry one 171g glow Z Stalker for all fairway driver duties. It's straight, stable, won't fade much or skip, and just longer enough than my Rocs that I use it a lot.Been using it for tee shots more and more. My drivers are Nukes, Bliz Boss, an under stable Star Vulcan, and a Legacy Cannon, so I need a slower straighter fairway disc. I do carry a Champ Valkyrie, but only for long rollers. Too understable for me for air shots.

4 Molds
5 Discs

Opto Trident
Z Tracker
C FD Jackal
S FD Jackal
Opto Diamond

If I could get my hands on a ESP Tracker I would.

My next slowest driver would be a TD Rush, which is not used as a control driver for me.

Firebird, CPD, seasoned SPD, beat to hell PPD is my control driver lineup.

I have 3 right now, Banshee, Eagle X, and XL. But the beat X XL is just there until I get a DX Eagle to that state.

Considering 9 speeds I use 6, 1 leopard, 2 teebirds, 1 sidewinder, 2 firebirds.

Leopard covers straight shots, one beat teebird for turnovers and working lines, one fresh for straight with fade or turnovers that flex. Sidewinder for rollers, beat firebird that acts like a teebird in headwinds and a fresh firebird for overstable duties.

I don't throw distance drivers. And what i carry depends on the wind and what course I play, But i could get away with having 4 drivers- 3 molds

GL Trident 175g 8/10
Champ Teebird 175g 8/10
VIP Underworld 173g newish
Tourney Underworld 167g Beat

I have the same problem you have I think. I love my underworld and I love my teebird, but i feel like i need something i the middle that will not turn, but not fade. Thats why i picked up the VIP heavier Underworld. It seems to do alright, but i haven't used it too much yet. I always just power the Beat underworld down a bit and Hyzer the crap out if it. I used to use stags, but went back to the Teebird because its more forgiving and better in the wind for me. Maybe a TL would work for you. Or a heavy River

5 for me, all very important except for the pd.

max opto xxx
max c pd
max pinnacle rival, fresh
max pinnacle rival, beat
max icon patriot, beat

The disc you are looking for is a champion/star leopard or patriot.

3 for me. Just introduced the new 2013 Ace Race disc to the bag.

Banshee
New Ascent or 2013 Ace Race (only carry one at a time)
Seasoned Ascent

I have noticed that a Ascents beat in fast, but then stay consistent. Once seasoned, they are nothing like a new one. The 2013 Ace Race disc fills the spot of the New Ascent when I do not need to beat one in (and keeps me from going through my supply of Ascents too fast).

If you want to try an inexpensive fix, you can beat up a DX Eagle just a bit and it will fit nicely between the stag and underworld. Leopard or patriot will also fill that slot.
