So, I just came in off of the course a little while ago. I played my first 9 of the year from the Red Tees on Knobley Mt. DGC. It was just about pitch black with the exception of some street lights. I just used a Glow Aviar, a UV Flashlight and no lights on the baskets at all. Helps knowing the course inside out so I could still hit the fairways. :D

So has anyone else played a round yet? This may be the only time that my rounds played count is ahead of Swatso's for the year. :D I shot even par with just one bogey and one birdie. Solid start to the year considering the conditions!

Played stafford woods this morning ! About 30 degrees but I was mainly testing my new legacy gauge . Unless someone played after midnight I was the first of the year

Easily the most bizarre post of the year. Congrats!

Edit: oh, maybe you meant the first at Stafford.

I should have known......

I thought I was insane for getting up New Year's Day to hit season opener tags for local club.............evidently i am not the mostest insane.

I have enacted a boycot on my course until the windchills get above zero. Knee deep ungroomed snow too :( I have a new basket just sitting in my shed. Oh winter...

my son and i teed it up at midnight last night, under the fireworks. his first glow round.

Awesome! Are you still in Thailand? If so, there are what... 5 time zones ahead of you? So unless someone in the Pacific played at midnight, you could have had the first round of disc golf in the world this year.

I was a little late, getting on the course at 12:40 EST. I still might have been the first round played in the USA this year.

I'll be going out in a couple of hours. I fully expect the course to be jam packed. We played last New Year and there was a wait on every hole. Oh well, it should still be a fun day. I hope to score a great round with a 5 disc minimalist bag. We'll see how it goes.

I'm working all day, so my first of 2014 will be glow rounds around 7 tonight. My last of 13 was slightly above my course average.

Went out this morning for a round. Here's the phone screenshot with the conditions...

This pic was taken on Christmas Eve after a heavy duty ice storm, but a lot of the course still looks the same except for the extra 8-10 inches of fluffy powder on top of the ice.

Only lost one disc. Fortunately I went out with a small bag of back-ups so it wasn't a tragic loss.

Getting out at 1pm central today. Sunny/ partly-cloudy, high a nice projected temp of 54 and wind 4mph SSW. Happy New Year to us! :D

Played my 1st round of 2014 this morning. One over my average. I was playing a little groggy though, and had some good relaxed drives, and came to realize that I had been neglecting my follow through, and started to work on that.

Shot -1 with just a Sidewinder and a Roc in single digit temperatures.

Maybe 2014 is gonna be my year ;)

I wanted to play today...but its cold and snowing with about 6"+ of super light powdery snow with a sheet of ice underneath...was hoping the snow would be denser to make life easier, this kind of snow the disc can travel a long way under the snow, not interested in losing a disc. Guess the first round will have to wait until Saturday.

Played at the local easy course. Made 6 deuces and no bogeys for a nice 48. Missed two deuce putts, would have been my record round there.

Can't complain about 40 degrees that's for sure.

You got that right - that's spring fever!

I played two rounds today. 18 holes at one course and 9 at another. It was a good way to kick off 2014! :D

First round of the new year was a little shaky. Threw +8 on my local 9 holer.. Far cry from my two Monday rounds that were +2 each. I was prasing my new Icon Gauge as my funnest disc I have thrown in a while. Too bad it was right turn city today . Not Fun!

The second round was better and I shot a +4. Left the Gauge in the bag after I shanked it right again off the tee on the second hole! Birdie hole became bogey hole twice today! Switched to my Fuse for my mid duties the rest of the day.

Went back and did some throws with the Gauge to get it under control and figured out what was happening. This thing has a nice flight and glide when thrown properly. Threw it off the tee a few times on the first two holes and played them out for some pars to end the day :D.

Shot a personal best at Simsbury DGC this morning. Low 30s, almost no wind, and sunshine.
