[MVP] Atom

^I wanted the Proxy to work with the Envy but I didn't see much separation except in headwind situations. Same with the Atom so of the 3 I'm only bagging the Envy for S/OS thrower. All are great but not much separation imo.

Since this is the Atom thread, I must admit I've switched to D Roaches for putting. Discraft D plastic gets a lot of hate but it's felt great to me in my short sample window. Seems to hold up as well as electron at about half the price as well.

Oldschool discraft putters were not my favorite but they seem to be running newer things now that seem to feel way better - but I like my shields right now - quite a bit. But as for the Atom - electron plastic initially feels - amazing, probably my favorite baseline feel, but it does beat up more than others - at least in medium. but a slightly beat medium atom is a mild turnovers dream - long putts too, it just seems to stick well. I really like that they made the atom in 3 plastics already. Its a homerun disc --- and funny you say you dropped those for envy's because I dropped envys in favor of the proxy and atoms. its all good, they are All great throwing putters

a lot - - Spin, (Proxy in some runs does), Vertex, Relay, Signal, Virus, Impulse, Inertia, Vanish --- some of the US discs turn way TOO much for me - like instant roller

I clipped it down.. At my power those are my understable and understableish options.
At your power the Proxy turns and shapes nice I'm sure but you are throwing it 300+'. I top out at 200'ish with a putter.

Spin is turny right off the shelf... Proxy is pretty neutral for me. Atom is straight too with a touch more LSS and will take a bit more juice to get it moving. For one mold ITB my vote is always for the Atom.

Tagging Mike C in this one because... well he could answer this I imagine.

Mike, in your Particle video you mention the Particle uses the same core as the Atom, and that it's a lower profile than the Envy. Does the Particle/Atom have a different core than the Envy/Proxy? I assumed they were the same, based on the profile pics on the MVP/Axiom site and the similar profiles.

Yes, the Particle and Atom have different cores than the Proxy and Envy. They feel a little bit flatter, and IIRC the wing is just a hair more narrow as well.

I love the Envy, but the Particle is more comfortable in my grip and offers just a touch more fade. It's no Deflector, but it seems like they'll hold their stability a bit longer.

Envy and Particle are pretty similar, it's going to come down to feel more than flight. Kind of like Atom vs Proxy.

That's funny, compared side by side I found the Proxy/Envy wing to be significantly more narrow than the Atom - stacked them rim to rim perpendicular against a flat surface; Atom bead clearly higher than that of the Proxy.

I also found the Atom to have a slightly larger diameter, even comparing proton to proton, although we are talking a sample size of 1 here.

Along these lines, can someone recommend a longer Proxy? How about a longer Envy or Atom? Z Comet or the like jumps to my mind, but I haven't tried any of the slower GYRO mids.

In my bag my slightly worn 170 N Tangent fills the Proxy slot, I imagine plasma Tangent off the shelf would do that too. Extremely straight flyer for me same flight shape as the Proxy. I can throw a laser with it and the rims feel similarly roundish. Less glide than an Axis but it makes it easy to place, it is often in the bag beside a 174 glow Z Comet redundant but different.. Often it's my downhill or low ceiling Comet replacement.

I don't know about longer Envy the Axis has better glide than the Tangent but needs a bit more power but it will also hold a turn not stable out the same as an Envy. With the Envy I haven't messed with the more stable mids I'm comfortable with my Tangent 150'+ the Axis is more 185'+ for me probably top out with mids 250' ish.

Heavy Vertex is like a longer Spin...

Longer Proxy? ALIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:|

The Alias is great - its very similar to the proxy but more mid-like - great for many things

Interesting the only axiom mid I've thrown is the Theory.. Oh well.. So I notice you dodged the question.. Haha

Which mid is like the Atom?

no dodging I just knew the answer to the longer proxy and that's an Alias foh sho

as for the Atom....I don't think there is one honestly, I find the atom super stable Straight with minimal fade like 3/3/0/1 I don't know if they have a mid like 5/5/0/1 - Vertex and Theory are a lil understable, Alias is too buttery straight not power stable with a lil fade, Axis is a lot like the alias but has some turn minimal fade, matrix is more like a longer envy with some turn but then decent fade. deflector is really OS....so I think Axiom should make a mid that's 5/5/0/1 or 0/2 anything that's HIGH SPEED STABLE without it being a deflector ;):\

I have been putting with the Atom ever since it debuted MVP's Electron plastic. It replaced the Anode for me basically because of the plastic. I came to appreciate the slimmer hand-feel and even straighter flight, so when the Anode came out in Electron I stuck with Atom.

I have been pairing my Atom with a Particle for driving as an overstable compliment. Until yesterday I hadn't run across a premium Atom for driving in a suitable plastic/weight for my preferences. Now I have a 172 Heart of the Chains LE N Atom that is absolute butter as a putter driver. First throw was a slightly uphill 300'. I threw my Particle a bit turned and it came back a little early and faded about 25' left of the basket. The Atom I threw on a laser that never turned and barely faded nestling up to the pole. I haven't actually played a round with it yet, but I can't wait to throw it more. I have always loved driving MVP putters and they keep making neat new ones.

That HOC LE Atom plastic is choice. It feels softer than most standard N, but seems durable as I landed it on a teepad and the road without a scuff.

I thought they were sold out months ago!

They are floating around feebay. Got the only white one i could find. Really makes the tripple stamp pop

I just got a 2nd Heart Atom because it felt unnecessary to leave it at the store. These are perhaps the best no-turn-no-fade putters I've driven. If Zam did the stamp, is he Atom Heart Mother?

No it means Zam put the chains around your heart.

Atoms made me switch back to MVP/Axiom bag (which I drifted away earlier due the lack of base line putter), as they are great driving putters. I also started to putt with them (used XT Colts before), but recently I started to feel that the flight of Atoms wasn't quite what I needed in my spin putts. So I bought some Electron and Neutron Pilots, and I think SE N Pilot might replace Electron Atom as driving putter. Seems to resist turn really well and the fade is very small. So essentially premium version of E Atom. I do have N Atom as well but that doesn't feel as good in the hand as E Atom and N Pilot.

For putting putters, at least so far I have not been able to find consistency with E Pilots, the shoulder seems bit too bulky (even though it really isn't) probably because the puddle top. I actually ended up testing Latitude Keystone yesterday and that worked perfectly for me, very glidey and bit higher profile than Atom (which is surprising as I have always felt that more shallow is better). I do like the Electron plastic more than Retro(?) though.

This is the only MVP putter I haven't messed with yet in premium plastic. How are these for driving/throwing? Which plastic would you pick for lacing tunnel shots? I'm curious if this would work well as a "straight mid" like a Buzzz/QMS/Truth type since I don't like the Matrix and it's the only MVP mid I think they didn't discontinue. :\

I'm really happy with my N Envy in this role though. Just curious if an Atom is any better after reading all the Pure comparisons.
