[Question] Looking for opinions on fairway drivers

Hello!

I am relatively new to disc golf and have only been playing for about eight months. In that time though I have acquired a few discs and am trying to get a good set that I am comfortable with. I was looking at getting one or two fairway drivers and wasn't sure if I would need one or not. I had my eye on the Innova Leopard, the MVP fairway drivers like the switch or servo, and Vibram's fairway drivers: the trak or ascent. I am not very familiar with all of the different brands, but those are some of the ones I know of. I was also leaning towards the under-stable discs because I hear they are more beginner-friendly. I currently own 13 discs:
Vibram Sole, Ibex, and unlace, Innova Rhyno, Atlas, Mako, Roc3, Beast, Wraith, Valkarie, ThunderBird, roadrunner, and Daedalus.
Sorry for the long post, but let me know what you think! Thanks.

Cant go wrong with the mvp or axiom fairway driver line up.

Switch inspire crave amp all are worth checking out. Easy to find in lighter weights. Not sure you need all the discs but more fairways wouldny be a bad thing. Lots of faster drivers in your bag.

Welcome to the site!

I would recommend the Switch for sure, but not if you are also going to get a Leopard, because they are so similar. Honestly for your arm, the Servo might not be all that different either, but it will be more stable.

Even if you don't throw far, the Switch is probably MVP's best beginner driver.

But definitely report back your distance and that will help us help you. :)

If you are newish to disc golf I would honestly work with your putters and mids and for fairways look at the:

Discraft D Cyclone
Millennium Polaris LS
Dx Gazelle
Dx Cheetah (probably the best out of them)
Dx Eagle X

Work on shaping shots with your discs and learning good form, I'd recommend base plastic because they will get beaten up and get straighter and more US creating more shot options especially if you add in fresh ones.

*This might sound bias (coming from me) but I would steer away from MVP/Axiom drivers unless you have an extraordinary amount of snap for being 8 months in

I agree with this. I used a beat up DX Cheetah when I was starting out and it was a great disc. I don't think that mold gets enough love. That being said you can't go wrong with a Leopard, either.

Another vote for a leopard in DX. I got that disc with a intro pack in like 1999 and threw it until just recently (not the same one, but always a DX cheetah). I recently passed my last cheetah to a friend who just started playing and she loves it. It's pretty easy to learn with and grow with for a long time.

There is also nothing wrong with throwing what you already have until you've played a bit longer. Unless you are just wanting to get new discs. The Leopard is a pretty standard beginner friendly disc so you can't go wrong with it. I've had a lep in my bag since I started and it is still useful.

Leopard, FD, Patriot, Rival, and Teebird would all be good options, depending on what level of stability you're looking for. Actually, my son is throwing a 150g Crave with good success. Heavier ones seem to take more effort, but the lightweights get moving nicely.

I think a dx Cheetah is a better beginner disc than a Leopard. If you turn over a cheetah at that skill level you know you had a bad throw, it is harder to see that with a Leo.

Thanks for all of your replies/advice everyone, you all are awesome! To answer Timeetyo I was throwing my drivers around 230'-240' a few weeks ago when my friend was able to measure my throws with his app. I have improved my form a bit since then, but not too sure if I am driving further. It seems like a lot of people like Leopard, so I will probably give that one a try or maybe the cheetah and see how that goes haha. Something i didn't realize is that DX plastic performs differently than others. When I got the discs I did, I choose champion plastic discs or star/gstar because I didn't think they would fly too differently and that they would last me longer. Also, I didn't see anyone recommend Vibram discs. Are they not too good or are higher skill level discs? I like the Sole and Unlace I have, but don't really like the Ibex too much though.

Vibram discs are awesome, just a very nitch following, dx is good plastic to start but beware they beat in quick so you'll find that perfect flight then hit a few trees and... Gone... You never mentioned any of the speed 7 trilogy stuff, river, comes to mind or a maul, both understable and I've seen many people with slower arm speed excel with these discs.

The River was a great starting out disc for me, along with the Stalker. I can't say enough good things about the Crave and Inspire also. The great thing about Axiom is that you can get them in lighter weights without compromising stability. Get a lightweight Crave and Inspire and thank me later.

Leopard yet again (I'd go for Pro Plastic, myself), and try a Discmania LadyLine FD...they're super grippy and gummy while also being in lightweights. They soar pretty easily.

I too am pretty new to the game, but I'm an older guy. I first just started buying discs, drivers, mid-ranges, and then I just happened to buy a DX Teebird 157g, and that thing just clicked for me. I now own several Teebirds, but my favorites are my DX 157g and a Star 162g. I'm now playing exclusively with my Teebirds and a Aviar 175g for putting.
