Val Jenkins announces new sponsor

"I'm not leaving to join another team or to chase down a higher paying contract," she wrote.

I don't think she left innova only because she wanted another contract/team, and I do think that many companies pursued her and not vice versa.

She said that she was happy that she found a sponsor that was willing to support all the females on their team just as much as the men. Which female players does Discraft sponsor other than Val?

Elaine King and a few others you've never heard of.

Elaine King, queen of disc golf and still kicking much younger butts in Open Women (6th at GCC).

Good for her. Maybe she can now go back to practicing and competing. And then maybe one day the FPO level will rise overall.

Man those FPO GCC vids were hard to watch.

Agree Smigles. I usually like watching FPO because, well, I'm a guy. I watched portions of rounds 1 and 2 and it was below average golf, for the most part. EK was steady, but the courses were simply too long for her to contend.

At least the central coast gang did the commentary.

I think most people figured Val was going to move to discraft if she was going to go with another manufacturer as a sponsor. We all may have wanted her to sign with some other company but her husband probably has enough extra discs that she could play with and learn while try to shop around.

Julio agreed with Jenkins' sentiment and expressed excitement about being able to support not only Jenkins, but also women's disc golf as a whole. The company, he said, has realigned its women's team support to equal that of its men's players.

I wonder if this means they reduced the men's salaries to make up for it.

Good for Val, maybe Discraft will really make a stand on Women's equality in the sport from her influence. Meanwhile, she and her husband can share bags and compare discs - "Please baby, stop throwing into that lava rock, you are really killing my Buzzz"
