2019 Pros Switching Sponsors Official Thread

KevJo the Wonderboy is a fun story and until he actually wins a big event, that's all he'll be. Nothing wrong with that. Plenty of touring pros out there who aren't fun stories. In fact, some of them make you wonder, boy, why they're out there grinding it out for a top 30 finish.

It's on instagram too.

According to the financial analysts here Innova is pulling in $140,000+ a day. If the discraft rumors are true I'm surprised they couldn't offer the highest rated player in the world something better than a company with ~15% of their profits could.

Speaking of which, wonder who boy wonder Joe Bishop will be throwing for next year?

DD it is :). Honestly I think not going to Innova is a good move for him if that's the case. While I think he is very talented he's kinda like Eagle before this year, and can't quite close out right now. The pressure of "filling McBeth's shoes" would be a lot. On DD he could keep pumping out top 5/10s and not have people saying he's a bust.

Kevin going to DD makes my #mcprank case stronger. We'll see......

Spoiler alert: McBeth bought the remnants of Salient and is gonna bring the brand back, including being the new commissioner of the American Disc Golf Tour

Or he's gonna sign with Discraft, who knows.

Also, whoever said this was so he could carry Grip bags again, I agree.

I seeing a post from an Upper Parks Design rep that he was hired by Discraft as a marketing person. I'm assuming some king of partnership between the brands would make sense. McBeth may be carrying a Rebel instead of a Grip next year.

Kevin going DD would be a shame.

Scam company that preys on the newer players. Has the answer to their "is this disc right for you?" Video series ever been no?

Well, I've watched a number of those, and, from what I remember, sometimes it was no.

Whether you like the Swedish plastic or not, there is no denying that DD is a major player in USA disc golf. I still see them branching away from Trilogy in the future and making their own plastic.

Revenue =/= profit. Discraft has much less overhead than Innova does.

Fair enough. I can honestly say that I haven't watched enough of them to say what I claimed is correct. I'm basing my statement on early episodes of DG Answer Man where they were recommending speed 12 drivers for beginners.

There have been a few wonderboys in the last few years that were supposed to be the next McBeth.

He'll most likely have a slight slump during the learning curve, but I could 100% see him winning another USDGC or Worlds. To say otherwise is even more ridiculous. It's the archer, not the arrow. Sure, it'll take him time to adjust. But, you don't think he had to adjust to different runs of all the discs he threw? You don't think he had to adjust to the discs he cycled? Paul will probably still be top 3 in the world at the end of 2019. Top 5, no doubt.

You can't say "it's the archer not the arrow" and then say yes there will be a learning curve. That means it is somewhat the arrow.

Whatever y'all, let's just watch and see me vindicated. Something tells me that McBeth will be back with Innova for another tour at some point... Just like that Morgan guy... Who the hell pays attention to a lamo thing like 3d archery anyways? At any rate that guy switched back to his original sponsor because the one he jumped to sucked so bad.

Revenue =/= profit. Discraft has much less overhead than Innova does.
When you manufacture a product for sale you have something that's called a multiplier. Basically you take you're total cost to produce the product, including overhead, and multiply it by a percentage and that is your profit. The lower the multiplier the better the profit.

For a company that makes 8 million in revenue to make more profit than a company that makes 52 million in revenue you're looking at something ridiculous like a .15 multiplier vs a .99 multiplier. That would mean Innova makes pennies per disc while Discraft makes several dollars per.

I know that's not the case, that's why I don't believe the 36 million dollar difference in sales that have been posted here.

Not really, word is he got a million a year for 10 years to go back. Hell of a lot more money in Archery than there is in Disc Golf. LOL.

For example if Innova had a .65 multiplier for their supposed $52 million per year , which is the ideal standard for a manufacture, they're looking at $18.2 million in profit. Even if they operate at a .85, which is horrible, they're looking at $7.8 million in profit. Almost as much as discraft is claimed to make in revenue.
