The original Star Wars was one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater so it holds a special place in my heart.
That said, this does little for me. I felt the same way about DD and Marvel.
I would rather see companies invest in developing their own creative.
On one of the Disc Golf Answer Man pods, a caller asked if DD would license Star Wars after having gotten Marvel. If I remember correctly, EMac basically said, "That would be awesome, and we asked, but Star Wars is MUCH more expensive. It's not possible." If that's true, this is a huge flex from Discraft. Combined with McBeth, they are going in.
...and Mrs. GoobyPls has already asked Santa Claus to bring her a Chewbacca Buzzz. *sigh*
This makes me sad. I love Discraft, but I absolutely LOATHE Disney. I broke up with Star Wars because of them. I really don't want to quit Discraft.
I hear ya. Not really my thing either, but I think it will help bring attention to the sport from people who might otherwise never bother. In terms of helping grow the sport, I think it's a good move.
I don't think it makes sense. The increase in cost goes straight to the consumer and the money is going straight to the 3rd party for license rights. Doesn't help disc golf at all. They would be better served my releasing more speciality runs where the increase in cost goes straight into their pockets.
Now I think they will sell some discs but I don't expect to see them run very long. Probably just a cash grab from the limited nature of the discs and the initial appeal.
If non-DG people buy them, and that eventually gets those folks to take up disc golf, and buy stock stamp discs does it make sense then?I don't think it makes sense. The increase in cost goes straight to the consumer and the money is going straight to the 3rd party for license rights. Doesn't help disc golf at all. They would be better served my releasing more speciality runs where the increase in cost goes straight into their pockets.
Awww this is so lame. Just hotstamp movie stuff on the low low like Gateway . Waste of money. Usually when they do full foil stamps they arent good throwers. Plus, it takes the price of a esp force (14$ shipped) to like $20+.
Hopefully mcbeth will bag one of these lame discs so discraft can actually get some return on their investment.
I said my peace. Anyone who disagrees is wrong
