How do you stay cool?

For between-round insta-cool: night before, wet a few rags, fold them up, stick em in ziploc bags, and freeze them. Put them between two ice packs on your cooler and they'll stay frozen, but not unfoldable. Sit in the shade with one of those on your face and its like being in an igloo...from the neck up...and only on your face.

In the 101 heat with heavy humidty for the 24 hours of Disc Golf I wore 2 Wet Ties and used a wet Frog Toggs as a a drape around my head under my hat. (kind of like a shiek style thingie) They worked great together!

It's also hot and humid here on the East coast, but then I grew up in Central Fl., so been in it all my life. The dri-weave shirts also tend to work pretty well. wearing a regular cotton t-shirt just sticks to you, making you feel miserable, but the dri-weave doesn't, and helps the air flow around your body. Keep plenty of water with you in your bag, and keep sipping on it. Keep a cooler at your car with sports drink in it to replenish <powerade/gatorade>. Good point also, drink a few swallows of sports drink BEFORE the round.
Try to stay in the shade as much as possible. If you are in a tourney playing 2 rounds, rest in a shady area between, DON'T go and sit in the A/C, then go and play, you body will NOT be accustomed to that drastic of a change, and you will even feel worse during the 2nd round.
If you really start getting too hot, pour some cool water over your wrists, this will help cool you down, but not put you in shock.

Come live in texas and play for about a month. Then go back where you are. I'm sure you will be fine. at 4:45 today it is 96 degrees. 45% humidity. tomorrow high 98 Friday 97 saturday and sunday 96. so play here for a week and you can play anywhere.

Come play in Louisiana where it was 98 degrees by 4pm at 77% humidity :) Seriously tho, I just drink two big bottles of water every 18 holes.

My favorite thing to do of late is to freeze a bottle of smart water. Those bottles are so big, (tall but not wide so fits in your bag's drink holder) the ice stays mostly frozen a whole round. I keep adding water from my other couple of waters (now warm) I bring to the smart water bottle ice. Replaces electrolytes while giving you cool water. I much prefer smart water to sports drinks as I hate anything even remotely sugary when I'm hot. :gross:

Also, the frozen towel at night is good.

I like the idea of taking a couple of aspirin before playing, I've caught a bad headache the past few times I played in extreme heat.

It's been pretty warm and humid here in Chicago lately, but as long as I have lots of water (I drink 1-2 quarts every 18 holes generally, so I bring a ton of water when I'm going out to play several rounds) it doesn't really get to me. The one thing that does help quite a bit is having a pair of breathable shoes, keeping your feet a little cooler makes the rest of you feel cooler too.

True dat! I leave me Merrill's in the closet for the summer! Just got a cheapo pair of mesh for the summer.

2 32oz H20's (half frozen to start) --full frozen takes to long to thaw out.

1 32oz h20 just to dump on my head periodically throught the round.

a wet bandana

super light clothing.

Today was the coolest I've felt on the course in months. We got caught in a decent rain. It was pretty cool (pun not intended), as I was already soaking wet with sweat, and things just got cooler.

Lately, I've taken to using a Frogg Togg, and wearing a wide brimmed hat by OR, and drinking lots of water. But I'm still miserably hot.

in san antonio its pretty hot. i think that what kind of course you play is also a factor. if i play a wooded course i notice its not so bad. but on an open one, even if its three or four holes in a row in the sun with no shade you start feeling kinda woozie. even with the prepared necessities.

By carrying less than 8 discs during any given round, and drinking a lot of water, and bringing a bandana for wiping off the sweat.

yeah that's what I meant by come play here for a week, then you can play anywhere. Not calling anyone a pussy. Just saying if you come play here for a week or so your body will realize 90 degrees isnt so bad.
So... you're pretty much calling northerners pussies. "We just need to see what real heat is like". Well, come on up here for week when it is -20 then you'll be fine wearing a t-shirt when its in the 40's. Blink often, your eyes can ice up.

Texan summers aren't **** compared to Ohio summers unless you live by the Gulf. I'd trade our humidity for another 10 degrees any day. Man, when I was a kid growing up in the south I never minded 100+ degree days, but up here 75 degrees and up is murder because it's so wet and humid. I literally break a sweat just being alive in Ohio during the summer.

Funny thing is where I spent my childhood an inch of snow meant a snow day, then I move to Ohio and I handle the cold better than people who've spent their whole lives here. Go figure.

@Spyder: I wear t shirts in the 40's :p

I wear cool looking shoes.........................Just kidding

Make sure you drink plenty of water or sports drinks before you play , and while you play. Wearing a hat, and keeping the sun off your head helps alot. Light colored clothing. Shoes that breathe well. I carry extra water just to pour over my head to cool myself off. Try not to play in the middle of the day.

Just play really early in the morning. You don't have to fight the heat as it is in the afternoon.

Yeah but you have to wipe off the dew on your discs and the heat making the dew evaporate = I look like I just stepped out of the shower =/
