How do you stay cool?

Funny thing is where I spent my childhood an inch of snow meant a snow day, then I move to Ohio and I handle the cold better than people who've spent their whole lives here. Go figure.

@Spyder: I wear t shirts in the 40's :p
Sounds like you are freakishly temperature insensitive/tolerant... so you don't count :p
Or you are a big phony liar like saying you can throw a putter 385'... jkjk

Humidity sucks up here in MN/eastern ND also. I'll take 95 and bone dry over 80 and sticky any day.

^^ Ture, I guess that depends on where you play as well. In the southwest the heat is really highm but at least the humidity is low thus it makes sense. In the southeast US, the humidity is always there.

I will concur that I'm a weird SOB, but I throw Buzz's that far, not putters........yet :D

I think about the rounds I've played in sub-zero wind chill during the winter, and am then thankful for the heat.

I know everyone out there is struggling with this heat, here in Missouri this week it's been around 90 with humidity between 50 and 80%. I have tried lightening my bag, drinking a lot of liquids, and putting a wet towel on my neck. But nothing really helps all that much. How do you guys beat the heat?

Get acclimated to it early, and play in it often. The more you're used to it, the less stress you'll put on your body.

Also, I carry at least 48-64 oz of water with me all summer. Stay hydrated, and pre-hydrate when you know you'll be out in it (ie drink lots of water the day of or even the day before you'll be out in it for a long time) and for god's sakes, 20 oz of water for every 2 beers you drink unless you want to go to the hospital!

Other than that, get a good dry fit hat and shirt, they go a long way in helping you cool off quicker.

Been using my Frog Tog, although after a couple holes, the water it holds becomes warm but it still seems to help; then I carry 2 liters of water.

Im wanting to get a brimmed hat of some sort as well to keep the sun off my face and neck a little. Who cares if I look like a dork (too late for that anyway) at least I will be relatively comfortable.

Have noticed its gotten easier the more I've been out in it though.

Wear light weight wicking clothes that will help sweat evaporate.

Carry a couple of wrist bands to wipe your forehead or wear a bandana, a dry one (wrist band) in reserve. A big dry terry cloth towel, shine the micro fiber crap.

Freeze your water bottles, go early in the morning.

It's hot here in Phoenix in August, intense heat and humidity.

We go and we sweat.

By keeping up with the latest fashions and trends, avoiding fads, and when possible, incorporating relevent retro duds to the contemporary mix. :|

Wait, what?

Oh. Nevermind.

I sit in my car with AC blastin' while others play Disc Golf...suckers!

I just wish I knew how to get rid of heat rash. I've been getting it really bad on my lower legs over the last couple years.

Been 100+ for like 15 days here in TX. 107 Today.

2 32oz bottles (frozen overnight, 1gatorade 1water)
1/2 gallon extra in the car.
Bandana (constantly dunked in water)
Neck band (has crystals that soke and hold a bunch of water)
really light clothing
Fruit in bag instead of dry snacks that make me thirsty

and the biggest thing of all......drink lots of fluids before I go out and play.

don't ever get out there and be dehydrated all ready. that's a big mistake I see all the time. in this heat, you run through water to quick as it is.

DANG! You guys just need to come play in the mountains of Wyoming ...

Was 32 degrees at 8am yesterday, and got all the way up to 65 degrees by the afternoon ... 29 this morning but should get up to 73 today.

Haven't had a single day this summer that hit the 90s.

Come to think about it, you might want to bring a jacket.

Texas. I bring at least a gallon insulated jug of water with me so that I don't have to conserve my water.....and pour some of that ice water on yourself every now and then. After a while you start getting used to it though.

We play early in the morning. 7-8AM sometimes earlier. Not only is it cooler, wind is also less of a problem and the best thing is NO CROWDS!

I know how you feel. KC sucks. Today is great though so get out and play. Anyway, I usually have a wet rag and no shirt.

Houston Texas - 100+ and 90%+ humidity all summer long. I carry 2 24 oz. bottles of ice water and a 6 pack cooler with beers. I ice the cooler with 3 ziploc bags of ice and refill my water bottles with cold water from the bags mid-way thru the round.

Basically hop from shade to shade when you are waiting on other people to shoot. Wear moisture wicking light colored clothing and bring an extra towel.
