You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits, that is real joy.

    Other info

    ~DG Philosophy ~

    * First and foremost, disc golf is meant to be fun. Although I am competitive by nature, to me it is about getting out into nature and enjoying the great outdoors!
    * I started playing this wonderful sport in May of 2000 at the famous De La Veaga in Santa Cruz, CA. Since then, I have accumulated over 250 courses in 13 states, 3 countries and counting...
    * My favorite type of courses are those that grow with age. Being able to shoot "lights out" every time on the course, to me, lacks creativity and challenge and therefore loses its luster quickly. Courses that continue to challenge me, revealing new routes and approaches over time, make me want to come back and play time and time again.
    * Considering I like to travel, navigation plays a factor in my ratings. If I am spending as much time looking for the next hole as playing it, then there is a major flaw with the course design/layout. I don't expect a course to hold me by the hand, but do expect the course to flow in proper harmony whether it be by the use of signs, next tee markers, tape on the basket, etc.

    ~ DGCR Criteria ~

    * Course Design: Balance (lefty vs. righty) with preferably multiple routes to the basket, nice flow, easy navigation, mix in hole length and par, utilization of geography, open vs. wooded holes, signature hole(s).
    * Aesthetic Beauty: Cleanliness and course maintenance, mountains, water (rivers, lakes, ponds, ocean), foliage, wildlife.
    * Challenge: Appropriate for tended audience (ie. red, blue, gold level player). Rewarding skill over luck.
    * Amenities: Pro shop, bathrooms, water fountains, camping, snack shacks, benches, multi-use park.
    * Bonuses: Multiple tee pads and/or baskets, quality tee signs and tee pads, multiple courses on site, kiosk w/ information regarding course layout, club events and local vendors.

On a business trip, playing courses to and from home. I found mine 2 years ago at a park in NY, Oquaga Creek State Park . i was searching for my drive on the last hole of the course. it had moss and rocks attached to it. It took 2 days in my hotel of soaking it with soap to get it semi clean. its either a muti purpose or a middle range. Its well aged from weather though. It had to have been there for a few months. seems like good plastic, but it has stiffened up from sitting. Ill load a photo to my disc organizer in a day or 2. i have another ace disc to take a photo of.
Yup, Montana is nice so far. I've only played DG twice since I moved but got to play the local course in town and then two in Butte. My home course is REALLY boring and completely treeless but the ones in Butte were pretty fun.

    See ya sometime soon!
i have been looking for more info on a disc that you have in your collection. I have one, and not sure what it is or what disc it is either.you have this in your note section about it. Any info would be great. Thanks Jamie

Just a heads up: Fredericksen is closed right now. The sign says something about it being too dry so there's too much danger of fire. You might want to post something about that on here. I'm a Bothell player so I can't tell you when it will open up again, but I'm guessing it'll be at least until we get back into the rainy season.
Thanks! It's definitely a place every golfer should get a chance to enjoy. Hope you make it there soon. The only quality course I got to play in your area is Hornings Hideout, and no offense to it (it was a great place) but Flyboy takes the cake.

I need to get up there again and play Pier and some others!
When is Howling Coyote getting pulled? I just found that course as I am new to disc golfing in WA. Is there a definite date?:(
Will have to see about catching a round @ Sedro when I'm back in valley about early Oct.
Good Good. The course is good to go. Nothing but short grass and old growth alders/cedars. Since it private I refuse to make a one layout course. Right now we have a mix of 3 different layouts with lots of distance and elevation. Also working on a true par 72 layout like ball golf. Jason said it reminds him of Ohio course that he played during worlds. Needless to say I haven't been giving Sedro or Mount Vernon the much needed attention for course improvements. I usally play in the evening. The next weekend play may be aug 7th? End of summer is getting busy. Hit me up on my cell or on nwdgn.com because I don't frequent my page here.
Yo John! just checked my page. Glad you had a new PR at Sedro with 5 down. That was 5 down with only playing hole 16 as a 4 right? I don't know who keeps trying to put holes 1,14,18 as par 4s. I havent been to Sedro in months. Been playing at my uncles 14 acres in Conway. We have 7 baskets out there now. Hope you, the wife, and the yougin are doing good. GO SOUNDERS!
Hey JR, thanks for the heads up on the DG course review web site. I'll be sure to play that hideaway course when I get to Oregon in a few weeks.
    Aloha
