In my opinion, karma is psychological more than anything, or sociological, if you prefer. I expect the 1 in 25 people who are psychopaths, by which I mean people who cannot genuinely feel empathy or remorse, will be relatively immune to it, at least until society uncovers their bad behavior and punishes them. But I think the dg community's meaning of "karma" could be expressed as the bad luck induced by having to live with the guilt and shame of knowing you've done wrong.
