SE Michigan to New Mexico

Next month my daughter and I will be road tripping from Ann Arbor, MI to Santa Fe, NM. We'll be stopping in Kansas City along the way to visit family, and play Waterworks and a couple other courses. What are some other must-play courses along the way?

Probable route to NM: I-94 W to Chicago, I-55 SW to Springfield MO, I-72/Hwy 36 W to KC, I-70 W to Salina KS, Hwy 50/56/412 SW to Springer NM, I-25 to Santa Fe.

Probable route home: I-25 N to Denver, I-76/80 all the way to Chicago, I-94 back to Ann Arbor.

We will be taking our time and won't mind deviating a bit. Any suggestions?

Do yourself a favor and instead of going I-25 from Springer- Santa Fe, keep heading W and play the mountain courses before heading south to Santa Fe.

I put this course in last year at the Santa Fe Ski Basin. I'm not sure when the baskets will be in because of the snow, and they don't run the lifts til September so if they are in and you're up for a big hike, its an amazing course as well.
