That said, I read David's post. Wouldn't surprise me if I made pre-round stretches part of my routine over the next few years, just as a preventative measure.
Well, I spent 2015 and 2016 with a long string of injuries and health problems, so I might not be the best source on preventative measures. Or, I might be a poster child for needing more. (Made it through 2017, though, March through December 20, at which time I walked into a sofa and apparently damaged my knee again).
I've had knee problems all my life and many years ago, when I finally decided that surgery would be worth the relief, I with to an orthopedist. He said my hamstrings were too tight and prescribed stretching.....with the result that in my early 40s, my knees were better than they'd been in my twenties. I know I'd be much better off if I stretched everyday---or better, like Stevefolfer, took up yoga---but I at least do it before playing.
