Fantastic 9-holer, for the time being 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 9, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Plenty of room to stretch out your arms and bomb. Most of holes 1-9 are 300-550 feet through fields and trees.
- There's plenty of terrain to work with, and the course is designed to use it well. Pins are strategically tucked into trees, hillsides, or across inlets, and the forest on holes 10-18 is fantastic terrain for disc golf.
- Many memorable holes, especially the over-water haul on 6, question mark-shaped dogleg on 10, and canyon shot on 14.
- Newly renovated with plenty of parking and bathrooms on 1-9
- Tee signs are now in place, which greatly help with navigation. Holes 1-9 are a simple "out and back" pattern, with only one slightly confusing walk between holes (4 -> 5).

Cons:

- Too difficult for new players; you need about a 275' drive to fully enjoy this course, 200' to avoid getting frustrated with it.
- The first 9 holes are often under strong winds, which add a whole new level to an already challenging course.
- As of April 2013, HOLES 10-18 DO NOT EXIST BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION (again). This greatly cuts down on the terrain variety; the course is now mostly fields, hills, and a few trees.

Other Thoughts:

The first 9 holes of Brazos Park East are still an enjoyable trek. They require solid drives and no mistakes to score well, and the risk-reward on hole 6 is tantalizing. At this point, the 23 holes of Cameron Park "West" are the main drag in Waco, but the 9 survivors of the "bEast" are also worth a look.

Cons:

playable, but not finished 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 10, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Bathrooms and cement tee pads

Cons:

not finished yet (front nine). most garbage of any course (back nine) a City of Waco park (poor maintenance)

Other Thoughts:

Barely open for play, grass still filling in so respect it please. city of waco have been dragging their feet on this for a year and blaming the contractor.

Anyway the whole thing is open now. No signs yet or map but the front nine follow an easy to navigate path. The back nine are still painfully wooded but beautiful. Easy to navigate the woods and some signs on the back nine. Nasty garbage on most tees in the woods including human waste and dirty diapers. homeless camp back by twelve seams abandoned but advise caution. lots of broken glass in the back nine so dont wear flipper floppers.
