To Call This A Course Is A Stretch! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 3, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Kuhnert Park is a narrow stretch of green space running between the road and a swampy/river area???? There are some scattered mature trees along with some picnic tables. Now to the course. There is basically no course. There are 8 or 9 homemade baskets. They're pretty funny looking creations. They're old, dark and rusty and the chains are kinda extra long. You know, like when men start to get real old and their ears start to lose their form and just kind of hang there. That's what these baskets reminded me of. Plus the bottom wire part of the baskets is made of too thin wire and it's all beat to crap. And a couple of the baskets have been savagedly attacked by maurauding gangs of teenagers armed with clubs and other weapons of malice.

There are no signs and no teepads. There is no visible evidence that anyone ever frequents this course although the day I was there, these two dudes were out there playing. They were one disc players, probably indicating to me that they didn't have their PDGA numbers. You've got to get up early in the morning to fool the Valkyrie Kid!

Cons:

Signs. Baskets. Teepads. Course. Challenge.

Other Thoughts:

I say this course only remains here until the baskets become major eyesores and then the parks department will order their removal and then Kuhnert will become just another extinct course here on DGCR. Play it will you can ladies and gentlemen!

Pros:

The only pro I have for this course is that it is the first course I played and the course that helped me develop my game. It was great before we discovered Richmond. My friend that still lives there is talking with the parks dpt to get new baskets and redesigning a whole new layout. Using more of the park that wasn't available before and using more trees as obstacles.

Cons:

The baskets, the layout, maintenance, the smell on hot days, sharing it with a dog park.

Other Thoughts:

Don't waste your time until this course gets gutted and redone.

TLC Needed Stat! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 1, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

It would be a good place to practice, as the layout is very open. There are a few trees, but they are not a factor.

Cons:

Where to start. First, the homemade baskets are in need of serious maintenance (the ones I could find that is). Baskets #2 and #8 were/are missing. There is no course map, or designated starting point. I drove to three locations before stumbling on to what I chose to be the #1 tee. There are no tee markers/tee pads, so I just stood next to the prior basket and threw at what I hoped was the next basket.

Other Thoughts:

I spoke with a few locals, and they said that this was the first course in the area, and it has not been maintained at all. I would have passed it by, but as long as it is listed as an SD disc golf course, I had to play it. Ugh!
