- Really pretty area, feels like you're a few days into a backpacking trip while only 10 minutes from Missoula
- Lots and lots of trees to try and avoid here that just seem to be angrier than when you get to the tee pad
- Baskets beckon me back to a simpler time and I love playing on these older DGA style baskets, Mach 4 or 5's I think
- A good amount of elevation here really challenges you on the uphill holes and exhilarates you on the downhill holes
- Good course flow and easy navigation for first timers
- There is a campground a few hundred feet from where hole 1 starts

Built in 1979 this was probably one of the best and most challenging courses of the day. 45 years later disc technology, and our understanding of how to throw golf discs better has really shortened this course. The par 4 holes are really just longer par 3 holes at this point and the par 3 holes out here are reachable by just about any player. Challenge just isn't there in 2024 despite how fun the course is.

I really dislike the tee pads that are full of sand and rock. I was throwing standstills because I was afraid of slipping. Brooms are cheap and could be used a few holes.

This is course that is older than me but is still really fun. I recommend playing this course with 1979 disc technology to get a better understanding of how the course played at that time. If you're near Missoula you have to play Blue Mountain but right after that, this is the next must play. I had a fun round by myself, only person on the course and I was done in an hour.

Only being able to use what Nature Offered out there, Course has a good Variety of Challenges throughout

Pretty Fun and Challenging Design using Elevation often, while still being very Family friendly

Actually, there's a really good Balance in Elevation Variety
From gently Undulating, to Hilly, and some close to Ridgey

Better/Wider/Fairer/Cleaner Fairways than I expected

And the Paths are all Obvious (boardwalk to 4) Never even Referenced the Map

Could see Most of the Baskets from the Teepads
MachVs, 5 & 18 are Discatchers

Course seems to Play Fair for any Throwing Style
Either throwing/landing Mids Straight, or the Hole is Charlottey

I Like the Finishing Shot... downhill Acerun!

With the Elevation, there's some good greens that Test your Putting Confidence

3-7 is a good Chance to go on a Birdy Run, with some good Midrange shots Versus the Elevation challenges

15 is a 3 you can be Happy with, the Hardest 3 to get at Patee

Hole 9 is a perfect Discgolf Hole, Simply

13 & 17 are Esthetically Pleasing, with the Big Hallways

All wooded Course that stays Cool longer into the Morning, is a nice thing in August

16 is Hohum

17 is Similar to 13

1 & 2 are Similar, with Similar Greens

Short Teepads on 2 & 15, for Pace of Play options

If nobody is on 18, it's a good Warmup Basket there

Vaulted Toilet, didn't notice any Water Spigot

Great Complimentary Course with Blue Mountain

Course is still super fun, and challenging.

Underbrush is getting a bit overgrown. A recent storm knocked down a couple trees across the trail in places. A section of the foot bridge was broken with a tree across it. Some pads missing, while others are pretty beat up. A couple are pretty slippery. Baskets could use some color, some of them are very difficult to see from the tee.

Try and stay on the trail, there is restoration work going on along the course. Pack it in - Pack it out.

Thank you very much to whomever took the small amount of time and wrote the basket number and an arrow pointing to the next tee. This course is pretty easy to navigate but the helpful aids only made it easier and saved me some time.

When you enter the park area, there is an official parks sign announcing Disc Golf Parking. Then there about a half a dozen signs leading you from the parking lot to the first hole. And then there are Zero signs on the course. The baskets are the basic, silver DGA models.

The course plays through a pine forest with some elevation. The underbrush is scattered making spotting your discs a breeze. The tee pads are decent sized rubber mats. Like I mentioned, there ar no tee signs but navigation is instinctive.

Despite it's technical nature, the course plays at an recreational level. Throwing straight off the tee is the key here but only a couple of holes are really tight. A couple have fairly wide fairways and others just have a tree or trees in your way. I believe the holes are all under 325'. Lots of birdie ops here. Most baskets are visible from the tee.

No much. The # 12 pad is sloping, one of my pet peeves.

Signs would be a welcome addition, if not just for the distances.

A few rubber pads are torn at the front end. They'll need to be replaced sometime soon.

After all my talk about the helpful navigational aids, I somehow managed to miss the # 14 basket and instead played all the way to the # 15 basket instead.

I liked this course quite a bit. There were 5-6 groups playing on this Saturday so I would believe the course is popular and well used. The course's close proximity to I-90 makes it an ideal pit stop on your drive across Montana.

Nice pads and baskets, really fun course. A lot of short technical shots with a few bombs. Mid-40s are there but get off the fairways and trouble comes quick! Bathrooms, picnic areas with grills.

Only open 4 months out of the year, limited parking. Watch your discs, grass gets very tall and easy to lose them.

While Blue Mountain may be Missoula's premiere course, Pattee Canyon is the course that will help elevate one's technical game. Most holes are pretty straight forward from tee to pin, but each hole offers plenty of shot variety and lanes off the tee and elevation change. This course is very balanced for forehand and backhand throwers and is also a course that will appeal to players of all skill levels. Plenty of fun ace runs to be found for those that can hit their lines. The scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of woods to provide that much needed shade during the summer. And while there is plenty of up and downhill shots, the course is not as strenuous as some of the other mountain courses around the state making it much more desirable for a quick casual round.

No course map and although I have read in reviews about there being tee signs I don't recall seeing any of them. Rubber tees can get slick when moisture is present. No multiple tee or pin placements.There is a little bit of a walk to get to the first hole. You will come across 18's basket on the way to hole 1. Just follow the path to the left as you approach it and that will take you to the first tee. From then on it is pretty easy to navigate. This course is only open for about 4 months give or take.

I really enjoyed this course a lot and met quite a few friendly locals while playing there. The day I played it there was quite a bit of traffic so this course must be pretty popular when it is in play. With the addition of a map, signs, better tees and some other pin placements this course would definitely earn a higher rating.

Pattee came into being while I was in high school, and though this is my hometown, I rarely am back to play it in season. This is a seasonal course, so be advised winter and spring you won't be able to play here.

- surprisingly fun course
- some holes had multiple positions
- gorgeous, carved fairways through giant pines that show that the course designer thought about every hole
- fly18 pads that are in good shape
- nice drive up the canyon to the course
- fairly easy to follow with well worn trails

- no tee signs was a bummer, and the logs that do mark the tees don't have any marking on them
- holes 5 & 6 share the same tee (wtf?)
- can actually be a little tricky to find on your first try without some luck (when you turn into the park, just drive straight on the main road and you'll see a sign pointing to disc golf in about 1/4 mile)
- it has 18 baskets, but they're mixed between DISCatchers & different Machs, with no particular order to how they placed the baskets, and this can be a little bit confusing because you don't know what to look for off the tee.

Three holes are currently removed due to 'revegetation' by the US Forest service, but they have been relocated to after hole 11, and all three temp holes are quality.

I thought it was funny that there were serious signs that said if you get caught throwing a disc anywhere but the course you will be subject to a $50 fine... Watch Out!

All in all I feel that this course is a nice compliment to Blue Mountain and both are worth checking out if you're in the Missoula area. It needs good signs and more permanent tees to be rated any better though.

Nice course in national Forest. Lots of trees and distance from town are very nice. Just like many of my favorite courses this one makes you feel like you are out in nature.

Did have a bit of a tough time finding a few holes, but all in all had a great day passing through.

Busted a flat trying to get up a gravel road to a spot where some locals said the camping was good, so stayed in a hotel. Would have loved to camped out nearby and hit it again in the morning.

Flat course through a beautiful area. Will train you to throw a straight shot.

Only open for play for about 1/3 of the year.

Lot's of rehab work being done to make this course much nicer. 18 baskets, tee pads, and signs will be installed before it opens in 2009

Good variety of holes, with most requiring some ability to throw where you aim! If you play here regularly you will either learn how to throw straight or get really good at escape shots from dense woods. There are several shorter holes so this course is beginner and kid friendly. Recently, the two longest holes (#2 & #15) have had short tee pads added to make the course even more family/beginner friendly. Despite the lack of signage on the course, it is pretty easy to follow as it gets heavily used. Pattee Canyon is a pretty course that wanders through dense woods and is cool and shady on hot summer days.

No markers at any tees. Closed from November 1 - June 30.

The combo of Pattee Canyon and Blue Mountain is great for local disc golfers. At Blue you learn to play long fairly open holes and how to deal with wind and elevation. At Pattee you learn to throw on narrower fairways and how to recover from shots in the woods. Blue Mountain is the better course if you can only play one, but the combo makes for a great disc golf experience.
