Nice, white Dynamic Veteran baskets are all in good shape (elevated on hole 5). Most (if not all) holes have pavers at the tee which give the hole number, par, and distance (I couldn't find 2's but didn't look very hard). They are painted white or yellow depending upon the layout. Nice course map (at 4's tee for some reason). A sidewalk/path is used to tee off from on several holes (natural otherwise).

It plays around the town's baseball fields (I wish the course had been here when I played road games here in high school), but does a good job of using large, mature trees to require specific lines. There is a good variance in hole length from sub-200 to 400+. Several are straight, some are left-to-right, and at least one is right-to-left. You can choose to play hole 2 as an island if you desire.

If you play here when ballgames are going on, there are going to be some safety issues. I'm not sure the course is even playable at that time. Park features that could potentially come in play include: walking paths, the driveway/parking-lot, baseball field (centerfield fence, specifically), and a gazebo.

Hole 4 tees from concrete (different from the paved walking path tees on other holes) which is absolutely slicker than snot on a brass door-knob. Hole 7's tee is perfectly placed so that some other park signs are in the way on the run-up; it would've been better off ten feet right without changing the hole's shape.

Hole 1 is a decent walk from hole 9 and the parking lot.

I enjoyed my round here (despite the 20 mph winds); it might be the best executed course that plays close to ball fields that I've seen (in terms of hole quality). Granted, nobody else was there when I played, so I didn't have to avoid other non-dg park users.

I'm not really sure why the two layouts are labeled white and yellow. I played the yellow plus maybe a couple white holes by accident (navigation wasn't really a problem using UDisc). It was definitely a red (recreational) level layout, and I think the white is, too.

This place is family-friendly: restrooms, a playground or two, and rounds can be finished in no more than 30 minutes.

If, for some reason, you're traveling between Manhattan and Topeka on US-24 instead of on I-70, you have three nine-holers to choose from: here, Rossville, and Pennyland Park in Wamego. If you can only pick one, don't stop in Rossville; Pennyland is more technical while this course is more classic park-style, but neither is a bad choice.
