    bents' bag

Update: I got rid of the roc. After comparing the wizard and aviar during putting practice, the aviar seems to work better, so I'm putting with it again. My bag: 2x champion teebirds, one pretty new, one beat. 1x star TL 1x buzzz, 1x wizard for short drives & approaches 2x dx aviar for...

    Putting follow-through problem?

SIX MONTH UPDATE! Back in January, I switched to a straddle long-arm pitch putt, then did Blake's short-arm pitch putt for a few months. Neither had good consistency, and I went back to the from-the-chest spin putt. Then I watched this video which explains how to get spin from the fingers...

    Mark Ellis Confidence putting program...

I'm also doing the program. It's been about a week. I'm not actually putting better yet. But not worrying about mechanics has definitely helped my mechanics! I used to have a problem trying different little things with my wrist or shoulders or something, but I think I've been doing about the...

The Newest Greatest thing you just figured out

By the way, this hard inward rotation is exercised a lot in pilates classes. I'm not naturally strong or coordinated, I'm much more of a slow-twitch muscle guy. (I'm naturally very very talented at bicycling, but it's not nearly as much fun as disc golf!) So if I don't do some strength...

The Newest Greatest thing you just figured out

I just recently figured out what I think is an important body mechanic for driving. JR always says "brace the right leg" and I misread this to mean "stiffen the leg". Stiffening the leg holds it fixed relative to your body, so when you're rotating, a stiffened leg rotates with you. But what I...

    Want a tweener

I thought most people loved PD's with not many mixed reviews. They are too fast/stable for my power level but if you can throw an eagle that far, a PD should be like a faster, more high-speed stable eagle. I've never thrown an OLF but lots of people like them too.

    Body position - hit point

Nevermind, haha, JR did point it out and I missed it.

    Body position - hit point

There's something else which I'm surprised JR didn't point out. Maybe because I'm wrong and it's not a problem. But with the first shot, it looks to me like your balance is off because you planted your right foot too far to the left. It looks like you're falling to the right. As JR's signature...

    Everything goes left now..

If it is a nose up problem, it might just be the way you're gripping it in your hand or angling your wrist. This isn't too hard to fix. It might be because your body weight isn't shifting hard enough over your right foot. With not enough weight shift, your whole body is slanted backwards a...

    Disc recommendations

The main thing, when you're throwing 220 ft, is DON'T THROW DISTANCE DRIVERS! You could even go without drivers all together for a while... midrange discs will go almost as far for you as any driver, and be easier to control. The problem with distance drivers is that, at your distance, the...

    Back to Basics

I was gonna post a thread about this but I though I should just ask an eagle lover directly. Basically, I don't know why anyone throws eagles when they could throw teebirds. They have about the same net stability, but the difference is that eagles turn more and fade more, right? I thought it...

    Lucky eagles bag 2013

I had the same problem turning over mids for a while. I'm not sure but I think the problem was off-axis torque. To stop the OAT, i worked on getting the follow-through right: with wrist rotated to keep the thumb down, and with my arm finishing at shoulder height, not lower. Nowadays, I don't...

The Newest Greatest thing you just figured out

I had a couple putting revelations yesterday. First, I changed the angle of my wrist at the start of the putt. I made it so the angle of the hand relative to forearm is the same at the beginning and end of the putt. At the beginning this made it way nose-down but the arm motion tilts it up...

    newer player building his bag

Here, here. I thought I'd beat my OAT issues months ago. And they yesterday it happened over and over again! I was planting my foot too far left causing balance issues. You pointed it out in a video of mine months ago, and I fixed it temporarily, but it's back.

    newer player building his bag

I agree partly with JR. Getting new discs won't make you much better. When I was new, my throws were so unpredictable that I could barely tell differences between discs. My wacky throws made some discs seem better than others when it was just randomness. I made the mistake of buying a...
