just woke out a DG dream

I sometimes have dreams of finding discs but it seems like they come after losing a disc. I think it has more to do with finding something you lost though the hundreds of discs dreams may be more general disc envy/longing. More frequently I dream of just throwing but rarely seem to remember...

You know you're addicted to DG when...

you know you are addicted to disc golf when your girlfriend thinks you are cheating on her with some girl named "Annie"

    WHY DO YOU DISC???

For me it is very much about striving for perfection. Now of course this could be true of anything but with things like disc golf it is all on your shoulders. You succeed or fail based only on your actions and, more importantly, success or failure for you can only be defined by you. Someone may...

    Disc Golf: Game or Sport?

What about chess. Definitely a game but the outcome is controlled entirely by the two players. Absolutely no chance.

    Disc Golf: Game or Sport?

I think the term sport is simply a subcategory of the term game. So technically disc golf would be both but sport is more accurate. A game is anything done for recreation (something that is not a means to an end) with defined rules. A sport is simply a game focused around physical exertion and...

    Cubby

I can't judge one way or the other but it seems to me that if he were going to take the time to fake an ace count to this extent, he would throw in more long holes. If you are already faking, why not go big? His short hole ace count lends credibility to the whole situation as far as I am concerned.

The Random People You Play With

Sounds like fun to me! Time permitting, I am all about taking it slow and easy. My uncle is a "crazy old dude who play[s] real slow and never shut[s] up" and some of the best conversations I have had have been with him. As long as you have a love and respect for the sport, it is all worth it! I...

The Random People You Play With

I can't speak for other smokers (tobacco or otherwise) but for me, I believe it does help my game. As does a beer. I do, however, find it obnoxious when players are to gone (from one substance or another) to play their game. It is truly sad to see someone's game negatively influenced by...

    San Francisco Disc Golf

Thanks for the info. I have been thinking about moving into the bay area and was curious about the disc golfing environment. I will now definitely have to make a trip up there to check out the course. As for California DGers, I would say that at least 95 percent of the players I have...

How do YOU measure distance thrown?

Honestly, I generally estimate given what I know about the hole or area in which I am throwing. If I know a hole is 415 and I get within technical putting range I know my drive was about 400 ft. If I ended up a little short, I estimate the remaining distance and subtract it from the total...

    Yay! :D

I use a challenger for a couple of tees but I never put with the thing. I can maybe get 200 ft. out of it and, particularly for downhills, find myself using it more and more for those high risk/reward shots. However, I putt with an aviar glow (the disc has been worn to hell and it seems to melt...

Disc Golf as an Olympic Sport Petition

As someone who has had to defend disc golf as even being a sport I would appreciate the international acceptance as a sport/athletic event . I think it would also do great things for disc golf in that, with the ease of course construction and the low cost of playing, it would take off remarkably...

Disc Golf Vs. GOLF or Ball Golf

I use "frolf" to refer to people playing disc golf with a Frisbee. Since a Frisbee never enters into my rounds of disc golf I would not consider myself a frolfer. I do consider this an important distinction to make so while I would not be offended if someone referred to me as a frolfer I would...

    Long putt or Ace?

An ace should be counted as completing a hole in one shot. If you are practicing a hole and make it in one throw I would count that as an ace but only if your intent was to play the hole out regardless of the drive. Otherwise you are just doing some drive practice that happens to be from a tee...
