    Michigan New Course Updates

I played Riddgepoint this fall and it's a solid design in the space. It's not quite Breaker's level, but I'm excited to play it with pads this spring. I live in Holland and genuinely believe I'm in one of the best places in the country for disc golf. On a daily basis, Breakers is an awesome...

    Coaches' Corner

I recently did a couple clinics for middle school students in my hometown (through the school). It depends on how much time you have and how many children there are, but for the most part stick to absolute basics and make almost everything a game or a challenge. I had ~30 minutes with 10-14...

Backhand: Reach Back vs "Moving Around the Disc" (McBeth Style)

I'm not so sure it's that they believe it's inferior. There is very little exposure to the style now, so most probably couldn't even articulate a difference. Personally, I prefer a more traditional throw because I rely so heavy on angle manipulation—something that just isn't as malleable with a...

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

Exactly. Sometimes I’ll let my arm go limp and fire my legs just to emphasize this feeling.

Putting and how to become elite level.

    Putt with something heavy.

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

I'm all for people developing what works for them—but this is the right way :ROFLMAO: (joking, mostly.)

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

I also have a lot of up and down in the putt*, and I recommend it to everyone—I think you're exactly right about why it's helpful. I'm an intuitive player, so focusing on the basket I think helps my body naturally tune the form for the correct distance. Once you learn to trust it, it can feel...

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

Yup. Body in a line, balanced on the front foot, and eyes on the target until the disc comes to rest.

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

+1 I know we're talking about holistic movements, but purposefully delaying my upper body and firing my legs "first" really helped me find the timing that best takes advantage of the power generated with the legs.

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

Interesting, I can see how the fingers become more powerful and active in that grip. I prefer to keep the power adjustments in my lower body so I can maintain as much consistency as possible in the arm and upper body. I wonder if that grip would better compliment a more spin-focused...

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

Yeah it's a nice video. I can't vibe with the way you're sort of gripping the edge of the disc as opposed to getting it deep in your grip. When the thumb and middle finger are closer to the middle of the flight plate, and the rim is lodged in the palm, it gives me better connection to the disc...

Putting test results: not touching disc w/ pinky at all helped me with clean releases, pop, wobble

Make the pressure between your middle finger and thumb the fulcrum of your grip and watch your putting issues flutter away. Something unrelated that always helps me is making my entire body from back foot to the tips of my fingers a line that points at my target on release.

Who is Using Tech Disc and is it Accurate?

Thanks for this! ESP gets better fast. Sometimes they can be really glossy and slick new, so much so that I question whether I'll be able to grip it well. It seems to quickly correct itself, though I imagine it will take longer into a net. The mold might grow on you as well—it did for me. It's...

Straight & Flat Swing Plane Does Not Exist!

In my case, focusing on the shoulders rather than the head was key. It sort of liberates you from "following your head" as you say. Climo is a good example of someone with strong "head independence" in his swing. He looks targetward much longer than most.
