I think Par 2 teesigns have been tried in the past and met with a backlash. If you think about it though, if a 1000 rated round is the equivalent to scratch golf (i.e. par for the course,) and there are SSA's that are below 56 (and there are plenty of them,) then there are Par 2's and...
Intermediate men definitely played the same layout as advanced. Intermediate women played the short layout with Rec men and the Juniors.
On the general discussion...
Slope seems to be the solution put in place for ball golf because handicaps are recorded in raw score and environmental...
Then I call your attention to Hotlanta 2012. The Rec group and I think the Int women played the short layout. Everyone else played the long. There were only 3-4 propagators in the smaller group. Per round, the rec group has ~20 point high round rating for the same score. SSA for the larger group...
Chuck,
Could you explain then why a rec player in a small rec group with few propagators could shoot the same score from the red tees as an advanced player from the long tees in the same round of a tournament and yet receive a higher round rating than the advanced player?
The round ratings...

PDGA's system suffers from sample size and sample distribution issues. Low sample sizes can cause wild swings in round ratings. This isn't unique to the PDGA rating system, it's a fairly common problem in statistics when trying to determine a quality mean, standard deviation, or...
Mark,
I meant "good" not "great" as well. Look at the DG criteria I stated: under 35 years of age, in good health, playing for 10+ years, still can't throw 300ft, and still can't get past mid pack in AM2 at a local C-tier. That's not a high bar, and there's lots of people (at least in the...
Going back to this and taking it to it's logical extreme...
If you chose that way and your opponent chose the other way, you'd always lose to your opponent. He'd shoot a 36 every round and his player rating would be over 1100. He'd win every tournament he played, beat the Champ for most Worlds...
Mark,
Have you met guys who have been playing DG regularly for 10+ years that can't seem to get past a plateau in the mid-MA2 level or lower?
I'm willing to bet the answer to this question is yes, and thus the answer to the question you posed is no. I'm also willing to bet you've met guys in...
Can't say enough about Flyboy as a championship caliber course. Kelly is also just a tremendous person.
I've also played BRP. I think it'd be tough to build a better casual-round course. It's absolutely beautiful, but I don't long to play it again. I thought there were too many short holes. #10...
I think the fourth post on the second page here has a better picture than the first link in this thread.
If you don't get all the references to slip, microslip, half-hitting, etc. there's no solution but to read.
I don't agree that a suspended member might be able to play as a non-member. Itemized bullet one says they lose the right to play in sactioned events. That's clear cut. However, I do have a question that's somewhat related:
Can a non-member be suspended?
Common sense says it should be...
