Thanks for that information. I've done all PDGA testing and approvals since 1989. We're now considering using 3D scanning for testing and analysis (especially making cross sections, determining volume, etc.), but I'm uncertain what kind of scanner we should obtain, or even if we should pursue...
The number of discs approved each year by the PDGA is another measure of disc golf growth. Last year I tested and approved 275 discs for the PDGA, which made 2023 a record year for approvals. There were 33 new companies with PDGA-approved discs/targets last year, another record. You can see...
You're welcome, our pleasure. Check the slides from my Masters Worlds presentation on PDGA tech standards here if you haven't already seen them. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/372853321_The_Past_Present_and_Future_of_PDGA_Technical_Standards
Now that my wife and I have a real photo booth set up, akin to those at the Flying Disc Museum, we've been taking many more photos and uploading them before each PDGA approval. That includes details of the tooling on the bottom when present. Take a look at the other approvals from the last few...
Just check the last slide in my presentation here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/372853321_The_Past_Present_and_Future_of_PDGA_Technical_Standards
You might be surprised by how much time I've spent looking at what other industries do in testing plastics over the last four decades. I compiled a number of books on plastic engineering. The most rigorous I found was in the pharmaceutical industry in terms of the physicochemical properties of...
The discs at that Google Drive are superseded by a complete phpto collection of discs here. All of the photos through 2022 are already posted and the remainder will be added over the coming weeks.

Not to me, the most interesting thing to me how many new brands there over that stretch and just how many new disc models there are (we recently passed 1,900 approved discs and ~300 new discs will be approved by the end of the year). There were 28 new companies with approved equipment last year...
PDGA Tech Standards has been collaborating with the Flying Disc Museum to document a complete set of all PDGA test discs. All discs and disc certification request forms for all discs tested through 2022 are available at this link below. The remainder will be added as descriptions are added to...
This is the first time I posted disc golf research at ResearchGate, but it seemed fitting to do so help it reach a wider audience. This link being posted here will help as well. If you like graphs like those, then you may like these as well...
Yes, we knew those were the general trends, but what surprised me, is that these data trends are so strong for the averages each year, not the extreme limits for the discs. I smoothed the data with polynomial regression to best model the long-term trends and make them easy to see.
The slides for my closing keynote speech at the 2023 Flying Disc Museum's Disc Collector's Conference, Masters Worlds, Flagstaff, are available for download here.

Thanks for all your disparaging remarks. I don't have time to rebut all your remarks and set the record straight, but suffice it to say, much more thought went into this standard than you will ever know. 1. What specific compounds do you think are present in discs that pose a danger? 2, Believe...
