Winter 9 Review
Hickory Hills is keeping a 9-hole course up all winter.
It's pretty short, but they did the best with the space that they had.
I'm happy that Hickory Hills is keeping a 9-hole course up all winter long. It uses 3 or the original holes (hole #2 is now #4 and hole #3 is now #5)...

My course I play when Hickory is too busy
Very well marked. Good elevation changes. Usually not too busy (I play here when Hickory Hills is too busy). Plenty of holes where you can really let it fly.
Quite a bit of trash. There are a few trash cans, but could use some more.
You won't go...

Some very easy, open holes. Some challenging tight holes. Great mix. Most of the holes are easily navigated (had a little trouble finding hole 2, but I've got it now). Wasn't too busy on the day I was there.
Hole #2 was a little tricky to find. First 5 or 6 holes are pretty boring...

The 1st tee is pretty easy to find.
I've played this course 3 or 4 times, and I don't think I've found all 9 holes yet. Very few directions. I like hiking around the area, but it's very hard to figure out where to go. If you're in Traverse City, pick ANY other course.

If you threw a disc and DIDN'T hit a tree, you weren't at Log Lake
Usually pretty much deserted.
Horrible navigation. Especially in the 7-8-9 area. I've played the course 4 times and I don't think I've gone the right way yet. TONS of trees. Hard to make a solid throw without hitting one.

River Road
I played this course on my birthday last week. Very little traffic. Many wide open holes that allow you to grip and rip. Many tight holes that make you throw at a blind goal. Very good mix.
Navigation was a little tricky at times. I think I might have skipped a hole or two near...
