Pros:

Aurora DGC is a nice little park located in Aurora, Oregon. The course features many activities compacted within a neighborhood block. The disc golf course is equipped with new MVP Black Hole Portal baskets.

As far as natural tee pads go, I was almost a little bit in favor of them at this course. It offered for some nice options in terms of lines. There is no designated tee pad and rather just a 5ft tall sign sticking in the ground making it very clear what hole it was.

This park is nicely maintained and there is definitely quite a few ace runs. Good variety of wooded to field holes. Holes 1-5 play in the field along the baseball field. Holes 6-9 play in the woods. On hole 1 there is a nice big detailed course map. Holes 6-9 are a nice change of pace and offer for some technicality. Hole 9 in particular, as you really have to hit your line to be looking at a birdie.

+ Someone added the distances of the holes on a little sticker on the tee signs.

Cons:

The tee sign for the next hole is literally directly next to the basket from the previous hole. I've never had to walk so short to the next hole on a course in my life. I think a little spacing might be nice especially since the tee sign is 5ft tall or so.

Had to wait on a lot of the holes for walkers to pass by. It's a decently busy park so be careful when you're throwing.

Other Thoughts:

This course is great for beginners but even as an experienced player myself I enjoyed the ace runs. There isn't a ton of space in this park and they did make good use of it. I agree a lot with the past reviewers of this course and they pretty much said it all. They added some nice new trees though to spruce up the park. Hole 2 has a beautiful cherry blossom tree right underneath it.

A second testimony 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 7, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-good hole lengths for beginners
-fairly easy to navigate
-well maintained, quiet city park
-new black hole portal baskets
-not going to be crowded... just watch for dog walkers
-mix of open holes as well as wooded holes

Cons:

-no tee pads (grass gets muddy/slick during rainy season)
-hole 3 and 4 as well as 6 and 7 play directly parallel to each other, but likely not a con as I doubt it ever gets busy

Other Thoughts:

Aurora, Oregon is a small town of 1000 folks and known for its many antique shops and national historic district- in fact, it's Oregon's first national historic district, dating back to the mid 1800's.
I personally think instead of brand new MVP black hole portal baskets, the targets in the park should either be old rusted out DGA mach one's, trees with spray painted targets, or perhaps peach baskets.

I can't add much to what the Valkyrie Kid already said, so I won't write much. The course plays nicely as long as there is no activity in the park, such as a baseball game, or dog walkers in the field. And if there happens to be a birthday party in the picnic shelters, I could totally see an errant disc landing in the cake and making a 7 year old cry.

I really like the big leaf maples and tall evergreens where holes 6-9 play.

It's a nice course to drop by if you're in the area, or don't have the time for the longer 18 over at Champoeg state park.

Squeaky Clean Park With A Squeaky Clean Little Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 5, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Aurora City Park is a nice little city park with a ball field, picnic area, playground, BB court, walking path, a pickleball court (Yeah), a small wooded area and something I've never seen before, a dedicated little fenced in area for four square.

The disc golf course starts right next to the ball field and the first five holes play around this open area. Then holes 6-9 move into the wooded area by the play structure. The baskets are MVP Black Hole Portals. The signs are very simple only listing the hole number. Distances on them would have be nice. There are no tee pads but it's so easy to just tee off next to the signs. Distances are all around the 200' mark ranging from 175' to 242'. You could call this a pitch and putt or an easy recreational course.

Holes 1 & 2 are 200' wide open throws. # 3 has one tree to throw around then 4 & 5 are both tunnel shots requiring you to keep your drive low. Walk around the courts to get to the wooded holes. Holes 6 through 9 are all fun little ACE runs twisting through the woods. The basket for # 9 is hidden behind a large Douglas fir tree.

Cons:

I wish the tee signs would have listed the distance. It would just kinda complete them.

The absence of tee pads is not a big deal at present but if the course were to get a lot of play, some areas might get worn or muddy. I've heard the rumor that it does occasionally rain here in Oregon.

Pitch & Putt distances. Pitch & Putt challenge.

Other Thoughts:

For what this course was designed for, I think it's a 5.0. It was designed to introduce new players to the game and to give those casual players a quick easy round. The signs and baskets both still have that "fresh out if the box" feel. Perhaps in the future, the city might put in pads. That would be a nice addition. Either way, this one of the many little city park courses that are most everywhere and Aurora City Park DGC is one of the nicer ones.
