Very short course. Can play with just a putter, however hole 5 might be a tad more challenging with only putter. It's designed for begginers and family. No real challenge don't overthrow 6 with your putter water behind the hole

This super short 9 hole is the front of the Stayton/Sublimity park 18. The park is nice. pads are good, signs well done. Great map on board at Hole 1. Bathrooms, garbage cans, toys all present. Scenic, cool on a hot day, I even saw a couple woodpeckers arguing over territory.

Unfortunately all of the above just doesn't make up for the fact that it is shoehorned into a postage stamp sized park. that is open enough to provide little challenge.

Kudos to the local club for doing as much as they have with what they were given, but in the future I would play Sublimity twice to get in 18 holes. Still one of prettiest pitch and putts I've seen if not very difficult.

I would like to just copy previous reviewer, ohtobediscing's, review word for word. His review is that well written and describes the course and park perfectly. Pioneer Park is a small, flat city park with lush green grass and a smattering of trees. The course starts on the more open side of the park with the first five holes playing in this area. After # 5, you walk past the historic old covered bridge and past the smaller bridge over the creek to the # 6 tee pad. The final four holes are played under the canopy of large Douglas Fir trees.

The course has brand new Discatcher baskets which have a large sponsor's bumper type sticker stuck to the large yellow ring. They include all the usually sponsor types, Pizza Places, Insurance Business's, Fast Foods and Service Clubs. Very clever way to fund your course but kinda makes the baskets resemble Nascar cars. The tee pads are small, square, concrete pads approx. 5' square. They're cute miniatures and no run-up is needed on these holes anyway. The hole signs are nice metal ones with the hole #, Par, distance, sponsor and route. There's a kiosk at the beginning with the course map and other info.

My favorite hole was # 8. 172' straight to a slightly elevated basket set on a small stump with a large Doug Fir just three feet to the right. I almost banked in an ACE off the fir tree.

Short distances.
Too bad this park doesn't have some nice rolling hills.

This is another perfect course for beginners/families/kids on their bikes. Great way to introduce someone to our game or just to go and practice your mid-ranges while chasing those ACES.

Combine this with the Church Park 9 in nearby Sublimity just 2.5 miles north for a great 18 hole beginner/Pitch & Putt experience.

This DGC and Church Park in Sublimity are sister courses creating a full 18, with the added bonus of a 2.5 mile drive between the 9s.
Another pretty little 10 acre course that wrings all it can out of an iota of elevation, a few rows of various ornamental hardwoods, and 4 holes worth of towering Douglas firs.
#1 is a short toss with a low ceiling of red oaks almost all the way to the pin..
#2 drives through a window of ornamentals across a field to a pin guarded by a single red oak.
#3 is an open, mid-range drive to a basket fronted by a skirmish line of fruit trees.
#4 is completely open but longer, and the basket sits in a low drainage depression.
#5 throws across this same depression, but still in the open.
Cross over the covered and foot bridges to the big trees.
#6, just a few steps SW of the footbridge, is a short RHBH hyzer, but has the river just over the hump of the bank that is left of the pin.
#7 is a short straight drive with a gateway pine and maple, and backing firs.
#8 drives a lane with a central pine trunk and a 12' ceiling, with a pin elevated on a 2' stump.
#9 is an open field with a big fir blocking a left-side hyzer.
New Discatcher baskets, but the cement tees are 5' square, though you hardly need a runup on these short holes. No benches, but plenty of sitting areas on parking-area logs, fences, bridges, etc. Trash cans/bathrooms on site.
Luscious, barefoot-worthy grass.

Basically a novice course for beginners, though it shakes and shimmies like a $5 whore at a $3 brothel.

Playground, historic structures and 5 miles of wooded hiking trails that join Pioneer to two other parks. Lots of room for future DGC expansion.
Quickie marts and eateries 1/4 mile away.
