Fun in the Brush 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice concrete tee-pads
-The course features quite a few ace runs
-Baskets are in good shape and since they are Innova Discatchers, the yellow top makes them easy to spot from the tee-pad
-Benches are on a few holes
-Course is easy to navigate and the flow makes sense.
-Good amount of trees and obstacles that will knock down an errant drive, which makes the course require some accuracy to score well.
-Very nice tee-signs that tell you the par, the distance and show a layout of the hole.
-Brooms at each tee-pad to sweep them off if they get dusty.
-Trashcan and Porta-Potty at the beginning of the course.
-Very slight elevation changes on some holes
-Practice basket and sign/map of the course at the beginning.
-Good place to work on your putter/mid range drives.

Cons:

-Course is not super long. One hole is 340 feet and all of the others are 315 ft or under, with a majority of the holes between about 180 and 250 or so.
-A lot of the holes play really close to each other and some of the holes cross over each other (definitely keep an eye at for incoming discs as there is a chance of being hit).
-After hole 18 you have to walk through the fairway for hole 9 to get back to the parking lot, which is a big safety issue.
-A lot of the shots are straight shots to the basket. I feel like design could have better utilized some of the obstacles available to encourage some more line shaping.
-The course is not very challenging currently.
-The course is very dusty. Dust will get all over you, your discs and your bags.
-The course doesn't have multiple pin positions or alternate tee-pads.

Other Thoughts:

It is nice to see a course in Alamosa, but overall none of the holes on this course are very memorable. This course definitely has potential and I feel like with some alternate pin positions and/or tee-pads this course could be a pretty good course.
